How often is your system "good"?
My system in always good. Sometimes I'm not. If I have a cold, the system doesn't sound so good. When I had a kidney stone it sounded terrible. When I was recovering fro open heart surgery, and I was on pain meds, it sounded great. My point is I'v...
LP 12 Owners-If you were going to buy a new TT ...
I have had my LP12 for 19 years now. Happy with it. But if I were getting into vinyl now, I would consider a VPI Prime or if the funds allowed, an SME
Do you clean your records before play, after play, or once (and then never again)?
I don't always clean my records, but when I do (with a VPI 16.5) it's before I play the record
Wrapping Up 2016
This thread made me realize my father died when he was 6 years older than I am now. Geez. I've never smoked, am in relatively decent health and I have had more health issues through this age than my dad did up to the same age. Guess it's time to s...
What to do with audio Magazines
I used to keep them all. When the small digest size went out I found a ready market on eBay. Now I no longer keep the magazines- it's all on line
Upgrade my MD 102 Tuner?
I used to own an MD100 which I had upgraded by the factory to an MD105. I didn't find any improved reception at all.
Pass X-250.8, X-250.5 or XA-30.8...or?
My Studio 2’s are driven extremely well by a 250.8. I never feel I need more power, no matter how loud I listen (I can easily exceed 100dB). The pairing sounds superb.
Audiolab 8200CD software erased can anyone help, self destruction
sorta bizarre- but what can I say- the Brits like warm beer too
What's your latest album purchase?
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly. Vinyl of course. I've had the CD forever then I saw a vinyl version just a few days ago. Bought it for peanuts. Sounds great and in great shape too.
What SS preamp compares to a tube preamp
For years I ran tubes. Conrad Johnson then Rogue. 3 years ago I went over to Pass Labs. Same as tubes? Unlikely but I do not miss the tubes even one bit. Pass is that good
Samsung buys Harman for $8B
That home audio was an afterthought for Samsung is exactly what makes me wonder if Samsung will do anything to support it- or just let it die. Would be interesting if Samsung found a buyer for the home audio- imagine throwing that in with Naim/Foc...
Jazz at the Pawnshop
Had this LP for longer than I can remember. Not exactly the most involving, but it's really quite good and the recording is excellent. I'd give it a B+ overall. It does get knocked as a great recording of crap material. Not so at all, IMO.
What to do with audio Magazines
I sold just about all my older small size mags. Now I just toss them
Pass Labs upgrade?
what's the difference, 2 db? Audibility is doubtfulno personal experience though- I run a 250.8 which has power to spare
California Audio Labs – Icon Mk II CD Player - HDCD
I have no current  xperience with the CAL IconHDCD Power Boss but I did own one years back. Sold it in 2001 and bought in its place a Meridian 508.24. The Meridian, which wasn't exactly new in 2001, trounced the CAL in every area except one- the C...
