DAC Shootout Starts This Weekend @verdantaudio Here is a great review of the Halo May vs the Musetec. I have been told that the Musetec is also an incredible DAC. Review: Holo May (L2) DAC and the Musetec Audio (LKS Audio) MH-DA005 DAC Compaired | Audiogon Discussion Forum
Recommendation for a highly resolving amp @chungjh If I am not mistaken. You have big speakers in a small room. I believe I recommended in the past you use either acoustic paneling and /or contact Mitch Barnett at https://accuratesound.ca to have him measure your room remotely and then h...
Recommended streamers/servers? All Streamers do the same damn thing. What’s key is the DAC that the Streamer is connected to. Your Internet Service Provider and the downlink speed is more critical. Don’t get me started on the Fibre Optic Crowd (unless you have 100’s of feet to ...
Recommendation for a highly resolving amp @chungjh Are you streaming with Fibre into your Lumin X1. If not that would be the first thing I would do. Pretty simple and cheap to set this up with a Network switch that has Fibre outputs. This could make a big difference depending on the quali...
Bryston ??? @jiffg If you contacted Bryston USA then that could be the cause of the delayed response. I believe that is a single person. If you contacted Bryston in Canada then I am surprised it took more than a day to get a response. The now CEO of Bryston pe...
Bought mono blocks, now spkr cables too long Send it to the cable maker and get it chopped up. I did that long ago with some AudioQuest Volcano cable. A 12 foot cable was chopped into four 3 foot lengths. I was even able to sell them later to TMR.com when I no longer needed them.
I’m looking to upgrade my Magnum Dynalab MD106T??? I have a MD Signal Sleuth that I was always questioning if I should use it since I did not hear or see much improvement in the signal reception with my MD102 and a Sony tuner.Today, with the new MD108T I started playing around with the Sleuth and...
Solid state amp to go with tube preamp; used ok; budget: $3k max The Benchmark AHB2 would be a rather nice change of pace to your setup. An excellent state of the art amp. ($3K)I recently have the LSA Voyager 350 GAN and it was very good and really good after getting it modded by EVS. ($3500 or less). It sound...

Benchmark dac2 and mqa I had the MQA guys, ROON guys, T+A guys, and Wilson guys in the same demo room showing people how good MQA was. They demoed with it on and off. My ears were a little ringing from a prior speaker demo in another room. So when I say I could not tell...
I’m looking to upgrade my Magnum Dynalab MD106T??? I also upgraded my MD102 to the MD108T 2 weeks ago. I have a tremendous radio station that is local to me. I can now hear this station at a sound quality level that is incredible. A good radio station is such a joy.
HiFi vs MidFi @bigtex22 I strive for a mid-fi system. I have a $7K preamp and a $700 preamp. I am listening to the $700 preamp now. If it were not for an impedance mis-match (likely issue) with my $700 preamp and my chosen amp the $7K preamp gets sold. My goal...
Stock Voyager GaN amp (350/600) Contrasted with my EVS1200 (600/1200) @cascadesphil Awesome. That is a fully broken in unit.
Are Pre-Amps necessary? @vanson1 My Benchmark HPA4 preamp improved the sound of my Benchmark DAC3 HGC. This DAC has a volume control for DAC direct to amp. The preamp improved on the DAC direct to amp on low level volume listening. I used to do a lot of that late at n...
