New Cary DMS 700
Congrats on the purchase!  I've had mine for a couple of years now and no regrets.  I like the option to use it as a standalone streamer and add a separate DAC if and when I get the urge to try an upgrade as technology improves, but I'm definitely...
Streamers made in America?
@spydrwebb44 If you're serious about the Carys, you won't find a better deal than the sale price with discount code that they're offering right now.  Try for 30 days and just pay return shipping if not impressed.
Ditch your USB cable for Toslink? Might surprise you!
+1 @deep_333
Cary DMS 700 vs Aurender A300
I don't know what Aurender's policy is, but Cary allows a 30 day trial period, you just pay return shipping cost.  Another difference is Cary sells direct to consumer which may be a better value and if you're buying new, Cary Direct runs sales thr...
Help me find a pre-amp
Another recommendation for Backert Labs.  I recently purchased the Rhumba Extreme and a sax sounds very much like a sax on my system.  It's also very responsive to tube rolling.
Cary DMS 700 vs Aurender A300
I believe you're referring to the Aurender A200 as it is comparable cost wise to the Cary DMS 700.  I can't speak of the Aurender as I've never heard it, but the Cary DMS 700 is a real sleeper.  I've owned it for over 2 years now and have no regre...
What to do with a large collection
Similarly, before I sold my LPs to the antique store, I went on Discogs and got a general idea of what they were worth.  Several were high value and I pointed that out.  I came up with a price that I would accept and still give the buyer a descent...
What to do with a large collection
Fittingly, I sold my LP collection and turntable to an antique store.  They were also in the business of selling LPs in store and on eBay.  I still have my CD collection as they weren't very interested, although they do sell used CDs.
Streaming DAC recommendation
If you can stretch your budget a little, consider the Cary DMS 700 from Cary Direct.  They rarely come up used but should come in just under $5K if you can find one.
Cable supports on the cheap...
For all the anal-retentive cable lifter audiophiles, just lay your cables on a bunch of Charmin Ultrasoft rolls.  If you can't hear a difference, then you haven't wasted any money.
Looking for good recordings of female vocals I have not yet tried...
Not sure if they’ve been mentioned, but I’ll throw in Hanna Reid (London Grammar), Goldfrapp (Tales of Us), Shannon McNally, and Imelda May.
Happy Audiophile Day!
It's also World Farm Animals Day!
If I rip all my CD's to flac files do I still need a CD transport?
I also ripped all of my CD's with dbPoweramp after I started streaming.  I held on to my CEC TL-5 transport for another 2 years, just looking at it sitting on the rack.  I finally sold it and moved on.  All of my CD's(about 400) are on a thumb dri...
dac and streamer or seperates
I'm in the minority, but my preference was a single box DAC/streamer.  Hardcore audiophiles usually prefer separates all around, but my thinking is the one box units have a better matched streamer, DAC and power supply.  I would also think better ...
