Has anyone noticed a slow down in sales? Yes there is a slowdown across almost every sector (except free money for Ukraine and what it buys- politicians and military hardware). I have noticed something interesting: In October there were a number of good deals available (under 10K for a...
You know when you are dealing with a BS company.... I like my Morrow XLRs. I hate the spamming I get from Morrow's (likely a millennial run) ad department. That being said have you ever had to sell a product to the general public lately? I swear people are getting stuupiderr and stupidere.
Ultimate stereo nightmare I'm up there in years too. My knees work when they want to. Wish I was in NYC I'd happily help out an audio guy in need. For me I like to ask my friends at church if they know a guy, after that I ask around at the country club. Definitely labe...
Classical music newbie needs your suggestions I was a rock n' roll kid- Bob Seger and Uncle Ted Nugent. The first classical tune that caught my ear was Pachelbel's Cannon in D. I was 18 yrs. old then. Mozart came next and as a student of music (piano and trumpet) I began to slowly mature into...
I have found out why new cables and tweaks actually work! Pas Labs, ARC and Mac have joint ventured a gold Swiffer for audiophiles that substantially adds subtleness. It's being introduced at the next Rocky Mountain International Audio Fest for a limited time @ $6,000 each. Limit one per Audiophile.
life span/failure rate of filter capacitors? (And I assume that the filter caps are the large electrolytic caps with the screw in terminals?) I'm pretty sure you are speaking of power caps. Filter caps are the small uF units that filter out unwanted signal. The big (blue?) ones with thread...
McIntosh Announces Mc451 Dual Mono Power Amplifier One nice thing about Mac is they don't drive their tubes hot like ARC does. The tubes in an ARC last about 2000 hours. I'm told (having not owned a Mac) that their tubes last much longer. Also, Macs don't use a screen resister as a tube protector...
One dedicated circuit for each mono block? One dedicated breaker, #10x4 line, one leg to a dedicated 9’ copper earth ground stake and the other end to the amp chassis. Both amps to the same receptacle. Use a hospital grade 20 amp receptacle. They are sturdier.
What should be mandatory in every professional published review- I think it should be mandatory that the reviewer disclose whether he gets the piece of equipment for free, or at a discount that he is reviewing
Advice on Repairs for Audio Research VT100 Mk II Hi Edward. There is a lot of wisdom here on this forum. The first question I would be asking myself is “am I in love with this amplifier”? The first question I would be asking myself is “am I in love with this amplifier”? If the answer is ...
Types of Audiophiles I'm probably the "Doesn't know any better" type. I found a quality set up that makes me happy and although tempted by all kinds of new and wonderfully promoted gear mine sounds good to me so why fix it till it's broke? (or I'm broke) Contentment...
Do Costly XLR Cables Make A Difference? cheap or expensive cables could be compromised by where they run. ie: how close your cables run to household electrical wires and HVAC equipment., what else is sharing that circuit. Audio Research had an interesting study done decades ago about...
So, I listened to a $1Million Dollar System This sounds like what happens when I order really expensive wine. My expectation is so high that I'm almost always disappointed. I'm reflexively suspicious of these really giant round number price tags. So often these prices are for show off buy...
Recommend a good tube power amp in the 100 wpc range for under $4k Hi Mike; I think this has been well covered here but my 2c worth is that bi-amping is a great way to have imbalance in your sound and your checkbook. "On paper" bi amping seems like it makes sense but in your listening room you are going to ha... |
