Is it easier to sell mono blocks or stereo amp on the used market?
My personal experience is that mono blocks are harder to sell. Looking at HiFiShark's date listed seems to indicate that my conclusion is correct.
The $27,900 disappointment? Wilson Audio Watt Puppy 8 issues.
I really didn't want to love the WP8 but I did. That being said; I wonder if the owner had adequate amplification and befitting room treatment?  Reviews of the rarified air top audio gear pieces we often get reviews like a car guy complaining th...
As good or better than Magnepan 3.7i
"I'm looking for suggestions of speakers with equivalent or better sound." That's a really tall order. I honestly don't think you can get what you are asking for in the 9K range.  I think the Wilson Watt Puppy 8 is equal or better sound but they...
Beware, scammers everywhere
Hard RULE #1:  A Phone conversation prior to closing the deal. It's REAL easy to find out if the other party knows and understands the item at issue.
Equipment insurance coverage
High dollar housing insurance HO-3 policies  (Chubb, Frontline, etc.) do cover hifi rigs under the personal property coverages.  Your policy should specify "like kind and quality" replacement. That sum us usually a percentage of the home's value.
Trends in value of vintage / used audio equipment?
I closely follow the used market for brands I like. It's kind of an obsession- probably from my years as a futures trader. Here's my take: 2020 COVID EIDL and PPP money gave a lot of people who don't handle money well a lot of buying power. Thing...
Stereophile review of the new Wilson Watt/Puppy
I was blown away by the WP8.  I also auditioned a pair of Alexx V and XVS that day.  Using the same music but increasingly expensive Burmester pre and amps I found the WP8 sweeter sounding while still surprisingly resolving- as much so as the Alex...
«Today’s Lyrics Are Pathetically Bad» Rick Beato
Beato also opines that there is no actual artistic engagement in mainstream pop/rock/country. It's formulaic and worse closed to "outsiders".  In that light i think he's right. Take "Rich Men North Of Richmond" for example. 100% off the reservati...
Good choice for 20' XLR cable?
I had the same problem- Morrow Audio wouldn't make me a XLR cable long enough and I was getting into $10,000 territory with a custom set of Cardis. Since I'm not Elon that option got downvoted. I read the PS Audio DIY article here:  https://www.p...
Package Has Disappeared in USPS System
Similarly to your story I once lost 5 1 oz US Liberty gold coins shipped USPS. The package arrived 45 or so days later mangled and torn but the gold was in tact and in my hot hand!  I was never so relieved to get something in the mail!
Auditioned Wilson Sabrina X vs B&W 803D4 and Shocked
I suspect that the amp is the problem. Mac's "house sound" isn't a good match with the highly resolving Willies.  It could also be speaker placement. Wilsons seem to come alive it the perfect placement- more so than others I've auditioned.
… "And the government shall be upon his shoulders"
The lyrics were taken from Isaiah 9:6. A messianic prophesy written 700 years before Christ's birth.  “The government will be upon on His shoulders” affirms His lordship uber alles. This is a prophesy of the Millennium. It speaks of and anticipat...
Solid state amp that tube fan can be happy with?
I agree with curiousjim that the PS Audio BHK300 is a hard amp to beat for what you are asking for.
Replacing Bryston 4BST for Aerial 10Ts
Bryston amps dont seem to have a “house sound” like say a McIntosh.     I have 2 7bSSTs that drive my woofers and when my ARC was out for te-tubing and biasing they ran the whole show.  To my ear they were detailed and fast. Things like cymbol an...
Why I Sold My Aurender N200
Congratulations on raising a high functioning daughter.  When we are older and needy our well-raised children pay dividends.  After buying, borrowing, trying a lot of digital front end pieces my conclusion is this: My ear keeps changing. What sou...
