Pass Labs x150.5 question I would think so. Dynaudio likes current not necessarily watts. An example is a Naim Supernait rated @ 80w or an Octave V70se rated at 70w just killed my Bryston B100 rated at 180w @ 4ohms or the Bryston 3bsst. I'm using the Octave with my C1's.
Tube amps and speaker matching My Dynaudio C1's (85db) is being driven by an Octave V70SE (70w @ 4ohms). The Octave beats the snot out my Bryston B100 rated at 180w @4ohm. I can't explain it but the tubes to me have more control and power and can be drive those C1's as far as t...
Two things about tubes I have a tube integrated and it is silent. Mine will play music within a few seconds of powering on but it does take about 10 - 20 min to get fully heated up and sounding great. Oh yeah for what ever it is worth my speakers are 85db.
Addiction to Brand No although it would take a great no killer deal on something else to replace my Dynaudio C1's or Octave V70SE. OK maybe yes with those two.
Cables – Speaker as well as interconnects – ugghh Personally I didn't care for the neutral ref ic's. Both the high and low end were rolled off. Mids were excellent but that was all. Both my son and I prefer Audioquest king cobra over the NR's. Since then I've changed to Nordost. You may want to c...
Any difference between tubes. Also some (not all) guitar players want the tube in the amp to distort early or at lower volumes. I would not want that in my amp. That being said some guitar amp tubes I've seen state you can specify when they distort (may be referred to as soft ...
stupid question about sources, amps, and loudness I had a similar problem when I use balanced ic's. Except I could not even get to 11 o'clock which is why I bought the rca version. As far as tube power I had a Bryston B100 rated @ 100w into 8ohm and 180w into 4ohm. My speakers are Dyn C1's rated a...
question about VirtualDynamics Reference PC What are the voltages between neutral and ground and hot and ground. Don't forget neutral to hot!! In a balanced configuration (like my isolation transformer) you get (assuming 120V) 60V between neutral and ground - 60V between hot and ground BUT ...
question about VirtualDynamics Reference PC You get the same result if the ground is completely open too. Have you checked all wires for continuity?
question about VirtualDynamics Reference PC Sounds like neutral and ground are reversed
Klipsch Heritage Series The heritage series is what really put Klipsch on the map. Many Klipsch owners swear by them. Me I swear at them. My son started with kg 4.5's then moved to the klf20's and now the klf30's. They are very efficient but extremely forward in the mids...
What CDP gets really close to vinyl? but the sense of spaciousness, air,This may sound a little strange but when I was auditioning speaker cables in my home I found the Nordost Frey's gave me just that. In fact my first impression with the Nordost was they seemed to be thin and lean ...
How can a 40 watt amp outshine a 140 watt amp Schipo I only have 1 problem with Mr Clarks conclusions. That being he may have been comparing 2 very closely types of amps. I would like to see the results of comparing something like my Bryston B100 and my Octave V70SE. To me there is no compari...
How can a 40 watt amp outshine a 140 watt amp I had wondered the same thing too and found that current means more than watts (rarely do you see current in specs). I had a Bryston B100 rated at 180w @4ohms. I did buy an Octave V70SE rated 70w @4ohms. The Octave is tubes which is different than...
Power cable shutting amp down I agree with Lewwhite. A short in the cable would cause your circuit breaker to trip first. So if not under warranty I would try and tightening the connectors at both ends. |
