Audiophile Pressing?
I always thought Cat Steven's Tea for the Tillerman had a pretty tipped-up treble. Otherwise all the mfsl albums I have sound better than the original, esp. the anadisc versions. What I have found disappointing SOMETIMES are japanese pressings wit...
Phono cable for Thorens TD 320 MK III
I had my audio dealer modify my Rega 3 years ago this way with cardas wire in the tone arm going to a cardas conversion box that has female cardas rca plugs, and a separate wire coming out of the arm base underside for the ground. This works great...

What would you do differently?
Wow! Sarah you're one of a kind. I've had girlfriends who loved great music but never gave a hoot for how it's reproduced. My wife, who is from Trinidad Tobago is in that category but also has gotten so used to the great reproduction with my syste...
Audio Museum...what would you want?
as far as classic memorable gear I would choose: a Marantz receiver from like, 1972, the old phase linear quad preamp, the Ampzilla, how about the old infinity column with all those midrange and tweeter drivers and the 12" watkins woofer circa 197...
Good inexpensive cartridge
without a doubt: the low cost Grado's or Rega's can't be beat.
How to Listen ??
Go buy yourself a season pass to a symphony in your area.. listen carefully to what "real" instruments sound like.. woodwinds, brass, massed strings, etc. remember that, then go listen at a shop and see if it sounds "real" ... as opposed to "tissy...
How did U get into this expensive hobby?
Yeah John R. is pretty cool. He modified my Spica TC-50's, and gave me a good deal on a Magnum Dynalab Etude a few years back.
Moral Dilemma
More than likely it's one of his 'look-a-likes', unfortunately.
How did U get into this expensive hobby?
I think the year was maybe 1974 or 75 and I wandered into a sterio shop and heard some L-100's playing Supertramp and I, as a 14 or 15 year old could not believe the power and loudness of the system. I fell in love with those Marantz receivers wit...
