Can bad LPs damage good cartridges? I love my Spin Clean. Twisted logic: Somewhere somebody (maybe even a Linn manual) suggested cleaning records with the STYLUS as it would supposedly do a better job than an LP cleaner...possibly my favorite LP comment EVER.
Kavent S33 owners...are you out there? I'm using Audioquest Diamondbacks with the S33...work great for an inexpensive XLR (and they're Chinese made so they can speak the same language)...I'm looking around for a used Audioquest "DBS" XLR pair just to try 'em. So now we're up to 3 Kaven...
Hi Fi in The Mechanic movie: what brand speakers? What about the dweeby music he plays?
Long XLR's: PAD Venustas versus Mogami Since when does your hearing deterioration obviate gear differences? Does soundstaging comprehension or perception of tonal subtlety change? No. Note how many pro engineers are over 50...or over 70...mastering geniuses like Bob Ludwig, etc. Some t...
Kavent S33 owners...are you out there? Yeah...S33 owners are too hip for forums as they know this stuff is so good they're DONE! Hey...I still recommend that el cheapo BravoV2 headphone amp...the dude in China sent me a replacement power supply (original one died) free in just 5 days t...
Do you ever doubt you ears ? A hifi item "Several times the quality" often means several times the price with a very small (or undetectable) improvement in sound...with something as difficult to quantify as "sound quality" I think we Audio Gear Hobbyists sometimes just change...
Do you ever doubt you ears ? Perception by its very nature defies certainty...that's what makes it interesting, and what makes music musical.
Kavent S33 owners...are you out there? I have my S33 running balanced into a Forte' Model 55 (balanced outs is what led me to Kavent in the first place)...I imagine there would not be enough gain to drive regular phones out of line level jacks, balanced or otherwise. "Balanced input" p...
Hi Fi in The Mechanic movie: what brand speakers? HA...I just watched that tonight...noted the closeup of what looks like an Ortofon 2M Red on that TT...and noticed the speakers for a split second near the end. That was some esoteric product placement.
Do you ever doubt you ears ? I refuse to leave my system on...my electron manipulation hobby devices hew to my absolute control...sometimes I even listen to it when it's off...a sort of high level meditative quiet...it all just sits there peacefully waiting for my command. Ac...
static charge I had a similar issue with a new Acurus A250 some time ago...little static-ish sound from one side...sent it back twice for free warranty repair and then sold it.
Do you ever doubt you ears ? Minor waiting: good...things that take weeks to supposedly "break in": bad. Although I do like it when a really sweet sounding component surprises me by getting better. That's VERY good.
Long XLR's: PAD Venustas versus Mogami Regarding the speaker spike suggestion...After messing around with spikes for many years I recently put Vibrapods under my smallish floorstanding speakers (wood floor). Sounds great...and I see more speaker manufacturers (and tweek designers) usin...
Do you ever doubt you ears ? I think "waiting a few weeks" should be for MINOR but arguably important improvement...if something is unlistenable I say life is too short to wait for it to come around. But then I'm old.
Keith Jarrett Trio, Live stock A "Jarrett" aside...Keith's son Gabriel Jarrett is an amazing jazz drummer. I love a trio he had (they still gig, though rarely) called "Vorcza" and play their one album frequently. Saw 'em live a couple times...just insanely good, smart modern ja... |
