upscale audio is this legal?
I think we need to revisit the need for proper spelling and punctuation as this stuff often hurts my eyeballs. Also, regarding the second part of my response (again, having nothing to do with this thread), UPS did show up and my new guitar arrived...
Best phono preamp under $250
I feel better about my 640P now...I just went over and patted it on the top and said, "good boy."
upscale audio is this legal?
What if they DID send the right amp and this is a scam? Unlikely maybe, but still. And I'd like to know why "Ebm" is so adamant. And I'd like to know where the Fedex truck is with the delivery I'm waiting for...unrelated, but I stuck it in here an...

I use a Cambridge 640p with a Pangea P100 power supply and it sounds great. The newer model that replaced it might be better. Plus, it has a rumble filter that I like. Inexpensive, seems to be built very well.

Snarky! The key thing is always how your gear makes you feel when you're doing some active listening. If you feel there is something needing improvement you'll stop listening to the music...I once had to swap some otherwise well regarded cables IM...
Vincent Audio - SV-236 MKII Owners
A friend of mine has had one for a while...it barely gets warm.
Amp, On A Budget?
I second the B&K St140 suggestion if only because they (the gold handled ones) look so cool...not sure about the issues from age however. One of the most overlooked Adcom amps is the 5300 (85 watts per into 8ohms). I like it better than the 53...

My Silverline Preludes are great midrange producers and get most of the punch of drums, but benefit big time from a REL sub (Q150e) that puts the mojo into drums (and everything else). A favorite John Scofield recording called "Grace Under Pressur...

If there is some factor in recorded drums that causes them to hide in specific speakers that produce "acoustic music" well, I'm not getting it. Drums are acoustic instruments. The nature of reproduced music is essentially the same...a bazouki or a...
Nakamichi PA-7 Stasis Hum
And now back to the real world: Getting an older high current amp repaired can be a really bad use of funds when a newer (working) amp could be found for possibly less money, if money (or lack of it) is an issue. If the amp problem is "something s...

I think the "find a decent sounding room" solution is great. The room right off the bar at the Paris Opera House is perfect. Unfortunately, I don't live anywhere near France and somehow I doubt they'd let me hang out there with my hifi. I settle f...
Optimizing the Prima Luna Premium Integrated amp
Yeah...it is a gamble so I'm always pleasantly surprised when a tube experiment works out in my rig. None of my tubes have been particularly expensive although I have to not think about the total cost of the "collection" piling up for the Jolida.
Do you leave the Jeff Rowland Amp on all the time
Yeah...mine. 3 hours of warmup sounds like a bad design. My gear sounds fine after a few minutes, better after a while...always has, always will...and then it's off. Waste not want not. Besides, this approach gives me somthing to be self righteous...
Do you leave the Jeff Rowland Amp on all the time
Practical real world experience with gear trumps the "it's OK and maybe better for your gear to leave it on" opinion. Turn it off, or at least stop finding lame arguments for needless waste and admit you don't give a damn.
Bargain amps and preamps with XLR connections?
I was looking for the same thing and found a NOS Kavent S-33 (exactly the same preamp as the Vincent SA-93). Or they found me really...and now they're (Kavent) nowhere to be found, and I wonder what they did with all the left over Kavent stuff. In...
