Is there really a need for panel speakers in 2012 So the "question validity topic and sarcasm police" don't have the day off. Members of this lofty crowd of opinionated elitists who feel that scoring a point for themselves in the race for "value judgement point score totals", can feel comforted b...
Need some advice Yeah...how DARE you take up forum space with a brand specific comparison question!
Is there really a need for panel speakers in 2012 I have to give props to Magnapan for exactly that reason...the fact that they sound great but are utterly impractical in most rooms but still popular is testament to "audio geekdom" at its most classic. There's a restaurant nearby that has the sma...
interesting article about turntables and vinyl It's always interesting when non tech minded boneheads publish stuff like that...the Sunday NY Times magazine recently had a full page article about the ProCo Rat guitar "stomp box" distortion gizmo, one of which I've owned (and used daily) for ov...
possibility of refinishing speaker You could also achieve a flat black finish with a blow torch...just make sure you do it in a well ventilated room. My duct tape comment was in jest...man, you gotta be careful around here. I've thought about the opposite for my speakers...Silverli...
interesting article about turntables and vinyl I don't mind saying this again: Turntables are the only things that will play LPs. I'm not a "format snob" but when I replaced a long dead turntable a few years ago, resurrected my hundreds of LPs that had been languishing in boxes for years, and ...
possibility of refinishing speaker Cover them with satin black duct tape. At least you could remove it someday if necessary.
Are Monoblocks better than Multi-channeled amps?? Monoblocks take up too much space for my purposes, otherwise all good. I think another good idea is to buy well designed stereo amps that can be converted to mono when you have the budget (and/or space) to get another one. The conversion is often ...
so many speakers I've never claimed (or purported...which as an act sounds painful) to have unharshable mellow, and this sort of misinformation only results my mellow becoming harshed...again...more to the point, wondering if speaker manufacturers have their own t...
Canned Heat Live at the Kaliedescope Lounge I saw the original Canned Heat in the late 60's in Honolulu. Vestine had a live meltdown about his amps (stacks of some obscure tube stuff I had never heard of before or since) and actually smacked a befuddled Alan Wilson's guitar strings resultin...
upscale audio is this legal? I think we need to revisit the need for proper spelling and punctuation as this stuff often hurts my eyeballs. Also, regarding the second part of my response (again, having nothing to do with this thread), UPS did show up and my new guitar arrived...
Best phono preamp under $250 I feel better about my 640P now...I just went over and patted it on the top and said, "good boy."
upscale audio is this legal? What if they DID send the right amp and this is a scam? Unlikely maybe, but still. And I'd like to know why "Ebm" is so adamant. And I'd like to know where the Fedex truck is with the delivery I'm waiting for...unrelated, but I stuck it in here an...
Best phono preamp under $250 I use a Cambridge 640p with a Pangea P100 power supply and it sounds great. The newer model that replaced it might be better. Plus, it has a rumble filter that I like. Inexpensive, seems to be built very well.
so many speakers Snarky! The key thing is always how your gear makes you feel when you're doing some active listening. If you feel there is something needing improvement you'll stop listening to the music...I once had to swap some otherwise well regarded cables IM... |
