Tube upgrades for Jolida 502B? I stuck KT120s in my Jolida 502p after being assured (By the Jolida MD people) they would work. They do. Amazingly. The stock 6550s were fine, as are the Sovtek KT88s I tried, but the 120s just sound better in every way I can hear. Then, it was su...
Brass footers for speakers Also, I use sorbothane in my shoes...I think it makes me sound better.
David Wilson must be a little annoyed... Everybody forgets the main reason to buy Magicos...they don't warp or get eaten by wood boring insects. I'm buying a pair to leave outside by the pool. All the pools for that matter. Even the Grotto. "Jeeves...bring the Bentley around...we're off ...
KT120 on Copland CTA-405 integrated amp I was going to order some GL KT88s for my Jolida and decided "meh"...the KT120s are doing such a great job I'm leaving them in there for now (note: Yhey hold their bias settings amazingly...I don't need to check that really but I do anyway out of ...
Who is Harry Nillson I loved Nillson...some of his records have parts I have to skip over, but I recently bought a new copy of "Nillson sings Newman" and it's all great. "The Point" is great theater and music...saw it in the 70s.
David Wilson must be a little annoyed... I look at a lot of the "ultra high end" stuff as being works of art, and in that context a bargain. $4 Million for a painting by Richter or $175 grand for some Magicos...and the Richter doesn't require an amp. On the other hand I've always felt it...
David Wilson must be a little annoyed... It's funny...I've been to Goodwin's and also thought how sad it would be if somebody poked a tweeter in the Magicos as it is kind of an exposed and I assume fragile little bugger. I like tweeters with permanent screens for that exact reason.
Tube amp terminology Atmosphere gets the "succinct and actually useful" response award for the entire year. I just wish I could afford an Atmasphere amp.
My amp has no faults Elizabeth doesn't like her Bryston? Man...my entire reality is shattered.
Is it possible to have an accurate speaker If you know what the hell you're doing (and aren't deaf) ANY system can sound fine usually. Bands with too much stage volume are hardest in small rooms, but otherwise I find that keeping the hell out of the way with good mics, no compression, unde...
Brass footers for speakers As someone who has spiked various speakers for years (including slamming some mini monitors into the ground in the end zone after a touchdown) I discovered the "decoupling" movement after hearing (and liking) a pair of my current brand of main spe...
Is it possible to have an accurate speaker As a (long, long time) professional musician and professional live sound tech I'm AMAZED at the ability of tin eared or otherwise incompetant live sound techs to make a good system sound bad, or they lack the skills to make a mediocre system sound...
My amp has no faults I said it best first. And for that we should all be grateful.
Is it possible to have an accurate speaker I think the point of any good speaker is to reproduce whatever is put into it. If it always sounds "round" or "warm" regardless of the source it can't be particularly accurate as, after all, music tonality is nearly infinitely variable. Or something.
My amp has no faults If the amp performs as designed, it is inherently perfect by definition. Whether or not it's perfect for your needs or matches perfectly with everything around it is a matter of personal taste subject to mood, humidity, bird noises, neighborhood e... |
