Amplifier humming
I use a P.S. Audio Humbuster III...although no longer made you can still find them on Ebay or someplace and they work GREAT to solve that exact issue.
Why does my tube amp
Mapman...my Jolida is well built, reliable, and no clue how long it will last but it works like new after 3 years of abuse...uh use...Jolida MD is the only Jolida that matters (Mike Allan is there, and he started the thing).
Why does my tube amp
Sadly, Jolida amps are too inexpensive to have much cred with true audiophilliacs, but somehow they seem to hew to the "tube watts" imaginary or actual "extra punch syndrome" or EPS, have low noise, and knock the crap out of pretentious and otherw...
Interesting Article
My Pepper LP is as stated...stereo, from digital. I am not into the mono LP hype by the way.
Interesting Article
I have lots of great LPs from the past several decades and love 'em...however, I've bought 2 LPs recently from Barnes and Noble (!). I wanted a clean copy of Beggar's Banquet and there it was...for 22 bucks or so...got it home and it's pressed on ...
Is KEF no longer relevant?
I'm talking mostly about passive monitors...KEFs can generally sound vastly better for nearfield playback than many "pro" audio or guitar store brands like the nauseating Yamaha NS10s that I had to put up with here and there over the years. Clearl...
Is KEF no longer relevant?
A tip for near field recording/monitoring speaker users: The older model (or even newer) "uni-Q" speakers which are VERY inexpensive and sound massively better than bullshit laden so called "pro" speakers. I have an old pair (bought new) of Q10s t...
How important is a good rack?
I use a low mass stable little table for my turntable just like Linn suggests, and everything else is on a relatively stable (unlike myself) cheap but nice looking rack with a bottom drawer for storing extra tubes and maps of Cuba...I have vibrapo...
which sub to get
I think there's a great case to be made for multiple subs, but in MOST rooms, especially if mostly near field listening, you really can easily get away with one...if it's a well designed sub like REL makes. "Aural cues" that determine soundstage a...
The End Of Big Iron?
Tube amp freaks are mostly not in this discussion as few bother with the extreme high horsepower versions as they just generate too much heat...the ones who do bother with those must have great ventilation or no clothing. Class D ain't going away,...
which sub to get
Get a REL and you really only need one.
KT 150 Amp Options
Rogers amps are beautiful, great sounding, and expensive.
KT 150 Amp Options
I think the new Jolida KT150 based amps are the fancy new two piece mono amps. Ditto on the Jolida 502p...I went in casually with no regard for terrifying heater supply disasters with KT120s and they lasted almost 3 years under hard use, sounding ...
Sold in one day
It's true...by insisting these amps are utterly overpriced and marketed to naive suckers, I can drive the prices down to where I would buy one...then immediately sell it back onto the naive sucker market which, apparently, is booming.
Adcom 515 verse Monster 3600 or 2600 power conditi
From my experience and knowledge, I can usually spot the nonsense emanating from people imagining things...like "current starvation"...but then there are a lot of people who will go to great lengths to justify a point even in the face of facts bei...
