How do you move HEAVY speakers with sharp spikes without lifting?
Geoffkait owns books?
Are subs worth the price for music?
Low frequencies are part of natural ambience that's everywhere, and subs bring that stuff to the room...not simply the low notes, although clearly that's a good thing, but the sense of reality that's part of live sound. I use 2 RELs with a small t...
Looking for a warm sweet speaker
Jpsound...missed this question...sorry...I like 120s better than 150s, and the Gold Lion KT88s were also great in my Jolida. If you're using EL34s you might want to try the Gold Lion KT77s as they're my new fave in my Dennis Had SEP amp. A surpris...
Low power tube amp for Sonus Faber?
I bet that amp will never get out of 2nd gear in a small room even with the SF speakers, and it's doubtful you will ever use up the 30 watts unless you use your room for drunken dance festivals...30 single ended watts is a strong wallop of mojo. I...
Schiit not that Good?
Thinking of gear as competing in a "pushup contest" is funny. I replaced a serious dual mono balanced preamp that sounds fabulous and listed originally for a couple of grand with a Freya. The Freya doesn't "blow the other amp out of the water" or ...
In need high-efficency speakers
Anyone buying Heresy IIIs should look around for a REL sub, as I've found these to match really well with these (and other) speakers, and in the last few years found a couple of great used RELs for a couple hundred bucks each.
Headphone cable, what do you do?
Grado's extension cable is superb.
New user intro: some questions...
I'm not sure why anybody would bypass the volume control in a Freya when using a headphone amp as the Freya's remote level is nice to have. Purity of signal or something maybe. Also I'm not sure if using the balanced outs on a Freya causes the RCA...
Reasonably Priced 6CA7 NOS (or even good used old stock) Tubes Available Anywhere?
My Gold Lion KT77 saga: I tried a set of JJ KT77s in my Dennis Had SEP amp a while back and they just didn’t cut it for reasons I find hard to describe...they lack some mojo compared to various power tubes I’ve used in this amp but were cheap and ...

So buellrider, do you ride a Buell?
REL Subwoofer: Speakon or RCA?
Long runs of RCA single ended cables aren't a good idea, but the 100,000 ohm REL "signal stealing" High Level input system doesn't seem to care how long the amp driven cable is. Plus it's easy to build them yourself.
Small or large sub for music
Remember that good subs don't simply add bass reinforcement, but contribute to the overall listening experience by adding life to the mix. Live concert halls and even studio mixed recordings have lower frequencies adding an ambient and more lifeli...
In need high-efficency speakers
You can still buy Heresy IIIs (I was surprised when I received the "Capitol" edition from these guys...there's a more expensive list for these with different finishes than regular Heresy IIIs, otherwise technically identical) from the same Ebay se...
In need high-efficency speakers
I rave about my Klipsch Heresy IIIs here frequently...99db efficiency is hard to beat, they sound fabulous, and are somewhat unobtrusive (relative to the surroundings obviously, but they're short and fat). I use them with 2 smallish REL subs and a...
narrow and wide baffles and imaging
I'm offended that tomic601 misspelled Richard Thompson.
