Can you live with your current speaker until you die? I love the way my current system sounds...SE amp, tube preamp, Klipsch Heresy III speakers...but the question really is about guessing if you're going to feel the same about everything in the future, and that's impossible to say. My current rig wi...
BE VERY CAREFUL OF YOUR DEALINGS ON AUDIO-ASYLUM I resent casting aspersions on Maui Jim sunglasses.
Which band IS really America's Greatest (rock & roll band)? It's a silly topic really but still...NRBQ were an astonishingly great and original band and crazy good live. Little Feat in the 70s were considered the best live band out there...that opinion was shared by a lot of the English guys like the Stone...
Golden age of vinyl recordings? Tube equipment certainly isn’t going to be extinct any time soon...sales of tube guitar amps far outnumber tube home audio stuff...maybe 100 to 1 (possibly much more), and tape decks are having a revival including cassettes, although those might b...

Bookshelf + sub vs. floorstanding If speakers don't play low frequencies due to design, it doesn't matter how small the room is...a good sub can make a gigantic difference overall as it's not just the bass, but a "room charging" effect that makes music sound more lifelike through ...
Klipsch Forte III--Pleasantly Surprised Note that Freyas are so cheap it's utterly worth it to try one and send it back if it sucks...note that mine came with the Russian 6N8S tubes that worked fine with no microphonics, but I had to try the new Tung Sol 6SN7GTB and some NOS Sylvania "c...
Klipsch Forte III--Pleasantly Surprised For me the only fault in the Freya are the LEDs...too bright, fixed with a green sharpie and a maddeningly fiddly operation to get the top back on the chassis with the LEDs lining up to the holes...if there's an easy way to do this I'd like to kno...
Does this image give you claustrophobia? If somebody wants to blow large bucks for a wall of Macs I say COOL. It's like art...sort of...and I do like blue meters as I'm shallow and easily drawn to shiny objects. I know some people with too much money and they tend to put their housing sp...
Does this image give you claustrophobia? I thought Claustrophobia was a fear of Christmas.
Speakers for.....every type of music? Tool? Hmmm...in any case, a normal good system should play anything within its loudness limits. That's it. Tool, Bernstein, anything...I use a 12wpc SE into 99db efficient speakers...2 powered subs...it works for all music, as it should.
Yamaha? Welcome back! Motorcycles, boat engines, car engines (at least they used to make those), nice pianos, and tons of other stuff...what’s not to like?
Klipsch Forte III--Pleasantly Surprised I’ve had fun with a Freya for nearly a year, and it mostly stays out the way...utterly quiet in all modes, which is easy to test as I use horn loaded speakers, and if I put my Schiit Loki EQ in the path and turn up the higher frequencies with my e...

Bi-Wire Advice for ProAc Response D2 I bi-wire my Klipsch Heresy IIIs with AQ Rockets as I was using them for my previous speakers and am too lazy to put my single wire cables back in. I suppose I can stick the jumpers on to replicate the single wire experience, but the sound is curr... |
