Tekton Design's new THE PERFECT SET equals "goosebumps time"
Klipsch Heresy IIIs. I had considered Tektons before buying the Heresys, but they just look weird to me and I had no way to hear them...the Heresys look great for my tastes ("ebony" Capitol version, which seem sort of dark purple, black grills), a...
high-efficiency loudspeakers
Note that my still surprisingly great sounding Klipsch Heresy IIIs cost (from a reputable Ebay seller/dealer with factory warranty) about 1500 clams including shipping. For a beautiful sounding 99db efficient 3 way I  think they are unique little ...
The Tragic Decline of Music Literacy (and Quality)
Because the jazz world today is packed with astonishing musicians making great recordings.
The Tragic Decline of Music Literacy (and Quality)
If you think music is in decline you're likely not a jazz fan. Too bad.
When do you turn off the tubes?
My preamp and single ended amp both use 6SN7GTBs and my preferred NOS RCAs and Sylvania "chrome domes" aren't expensive at all (relatively). A NOS Amperex was supplied with my Dennis Had power amp and still sounds great after a couple of years. Yo...
Jimmy Page, It's time to call your lawyers?
A #1 album on the Billboard charts and 4 Grammy nominations is, by definition, "making it." Their current world tour doesn't include any 1000 seat clubs as far as I can tell, but if it did they'd likely sell those out in about 30 seconds. I agree,...
Hey RICH Audiophiles
I often adjust the sound to my tastes at concerts because I'm running the sound...a benefit of that job, and I'm often set up near a back door so If things get weird I can run away.
Jimmy Page, It's time to call your lawyers?
As mentioned previously, this band is very successful already...very...so I somehow doubt they give a rat's patootie about entertaining suggestions about getting better at anything as what they do seems to be  working out OK. I think one reason I ...
Best multi-purpose subwoofer
This might have been mentioned already in one of the previous uber-wordy posts, but one of the cool things about RELs (and Vandys but not sure which others) is the speaker jack output to High Level input resulting in the subs sounding like your am...
Are many audiophiles only seeking approval of the next purchase?
Seeking approval of the next purchase by asking around is a really bad way to go...seriously...what if somebody doesn't like your ideas? Leaving the house, talking to anyone about anything, and listening to anything at all other than those voices ...
Spam threads gone wild...
Getting rid of the spam would be great, but don't let it get in the way of deleting rozy54's harmless posts whenever possible.
Seek non-ported speakers - $700 to $1500 To stop the port-itis in my room!
Klipsch Heresy IIIs are the first non ported speakers I've owned since my Boston Acoustics A60IIs (I still use those for my TV rig). So the Heresy's and my 2 subs provide portlessness all around...and sound great.
Best multi-purpose subwoofer
By a used REL...I have 2 and they're amazing, and they do "pressurize" the room in the sense that having ambient low frequency sound around makes things more life like...at least that's what I think that means...it makes the room feel better.
Tube Sound Question
When I bought a Dennis Had "Firebottle" single ended 12wpc tube power amp it was one of the most significant system changes I’d had over many years...including owning other tube power amps...used it initially with a very clean dual mono SS preamp ...
Jimmy Page, It's time to call your lawyers?
The only thing Zep-ish about the Van Fleets is the singer's voice...the dynamics pretty much lack with Fleet and most modern bands, which hasn't hurt their career I suppose. Zep's early performances were very dynamic, and utilized all the smart tr...
