Which headphone amplifier with balanced input?
IMO, the Sugden Headmaster is an excellent solid state headamp (very quick, precise, and detailed) with an absolutely beautiful finish and outstanding build quality, but it's a bit on the expensive side if you buy it new. It mates particularly wel...
Which headphone amplifier with balanced input?
Hey, it's nice to see all of the referrals to head-fi, which is definitely the best place to ask this sort of question but it's always nice to hear from the Audiogon crowd on headphone-related matters as well. Depending on your budget, I wholehear...
Dylan / Grateful Dead "Postcards of the Hanging"
Thanks guys - guess I was being lazy.
Home Theater Sub suggestions for 13x13 room
SVS was the suggestion that I had in mind as I clicked on this thread as well.
Dylan - The Greatest Remasters Ever
Thanks, Ben. I've always been a Dylan fan but came into the picture a little late in the game, age-wise (I'll be turning 41 next week), so your comments have been quite helpful. Like you, I preordered this 15 disc set and am told that they are now...
Headphone I can stand for more than 1 hour
The most comfortable phones that I have are: Sony R-10, Sony CD3000, Stax Omega II, Beyerdynamics DT-880, DT-770 Pro, DT-990 Pro, Sennheiser HD-600, Audio Technica W-100. I totally agree that the AKG K-1000s put a lot of pressure on your temple, a...
"AT Audiogon" "ON Audiogon" Help
Sorry Ekistler sj. I was just being playful and not attempting to answer the question in a serious manner - it was an effort to create a Seinfeld type of dialogue more than anything. When writing emails, I commonly make references such as: I have a...
"AT Audiogon" "ON Audiogon" Help
Ah, but Nrchy, can you really be "on" Augiogon either? Notwithstanding the common usage of "logging on", can you really stand on it or sit on it if "it" (Audiogon) only exists to the end user electronically? Maybe we're "in" Audiogon! That would s...
I need a female jazz vocalist. No Krall, No Norah
Meech33, nice thread. I'm sure you're looking for new (modern) singers, but just a quick mention of some of the oldtimers out of respect - Sarah Vaughn, Ella, Nina Simone, Etta James and more recently Eva Cassidy (very seductive - although a dffer...
Do you really need ultra expensive cables?
Sean, that one reminds me of my dad's favorite expression: "If I want your opinion, I'll give it to you."
Do you really need ultra expensive cables?
No. None of us really NEED any of this stuff. It's a hobby and it's supposed to be fun. If spending the big bucks on cables makes you freak, then don't so it. If you think that's where the payoff is, then why not? Opinions differ as do the ears th...
PayPal Surcharge
Interesting thread. I've used PayPal at least 200 times as a buyer, but never as a seller. I've always sent funds via bank transfers. I was under the impression that all PayPal sellers were charged the 3% fee for all transactions! I'd be intereste...
Best relatively Compact Speakers in $2000 range??
It might help if you defined just how "compact" you're looking for by providing us with some suggestive maximum dimensions. Also, how far form the rear wall can they be safely placed without interfering with your room design? I'd suggest to look f...
Finally a SACD worth owning
Yeah, a very nice set of discs, but I could do without the first couple of goofy quasi-vocal tracks on disc one (will skip past them in the future). Otherwise, a pleasant, well recorded, and entertaining experience. This guy has still got it right!
Every make a purchase you truly regret?
Bose Accustimass 10. After that, it has been uphill all the way!!!
