B&W Name Change Theory
Bose shows the power and the triumph of marketing. I hope I never have to provide them with profit by buying anything with Bose in it.regards, David
Most helpful audio companies
I would add: Aerial speakers, and Zu cables to the list of good companies.regards, David
Anyone use Audiogon "Wanted" Ads Success?
The few times I tried them they didn't work at all so to pay for them now doesn't make much sense for me based on past performance.
Which Cable Makes the Biggest Impact?
Interesting. Re power cords, how is it that after that electricity is generated at the plant it goes through numerous wires, transformers, taps, circuit breakers, cables, wires, meters, protections devices, etc. before it gets to your house and th...
McIntosh Integrated
The highs on the McIntosh SS integrateds are grainy although the 6900 is marginally better than the other two. The difference between their high-end gear and the three integrateds is quite large to my ears.regards, David
Best Used Integrated under $2000?.....$3000?
I bought a Krell 400Xi which I'm growing fonder of by the day. Very revealing though. I compared against MF (artificially warm), McIntosh (harsh highs on their integrateds), Nait ($$$ and need to go separates for more power), NAD (Ok not bad for t...
What speaker cables to buy
I just bought some Zu Julians. They definitely made an improvement on my system which is Krell and Aerial 7Bs.regards, David
A butt-load spent in cables - how much improvemt?
I wonder what group of people participated in the double-blinds. It may be the masses. For example in double-blind tests, the results show most people can't tell the diff between Coke and Pepsi. A friend of mine said I couldn't tell the difference...
Signal Cable Analog 2
Personally, I don't like the analog 2's. I have 3 pairs and found that on three different amps they sounded worse than cheap cables. They are very harsh to my ears and it's something I can clearly hear. OTOH, this is the first thread where I've he...
How much does your system retail for?
Mine is $10k. I've found having been in this hobby since the 70s is you get what you pay for. A $50k or $60 system sounds way better than a $10k or $20k system and a 10k system really sounds a lot better than a 3k system. It's just a painful reali...
How do you determine how much to spend on speakers
Find a pair you love the sound of. Find the price and then you'll know how much to spend.
Help with Integrated Amp Choice
I would definitely listen to as many brands as you can. I listened to quite a few and each had their own characteristic sound. As a electrical engineer, I firmly believed for many years that basically all amps were equal. Input in = identical but ...
Arcam vs. NAD vs. Rotel AV Units
Since you have Klispch, I would go with the NAD as it's a little smoother. Arcam are the most detailed amps I've heard and I don't think Klipsch would sound good with them. I own Klispch, Aerial, NAD, and Marantz. For your purposes, I think the NA...
Pioneer vs. Panasonic plasma
You should probably go over to avsforum.com. You'll find more than you ever want to know there. I have the 5070 myself and I'm happy with it. All things considered price, picture quality, appearance made this set the best bet for my money. Many pe...
Recommendation for Computer/Digital
I would suggest an M-audio card preferably with the RCA outputs. They do a great a deal of audio recording gear which is in large part done with a computer now. I had an M-audio card and it sounded good.
