Are cables really worth their high price because of their geometry?
@b4icu - I think I will just say that w.r.t. cables - we will have to agree to disagree.I have received observations from dozens of people that have implemented the DIY cables i promote, in a variety of systems both tube and solid state and of var...
Are cables really worth their high price because of their geometry?
If you only have a low end system, then Belden cables or even some zip cords should be OK. I have found that using quality cables on a system of any price will enhance the performance of that system - dramatically, - Provided you choose the cabl...
Are cables really worth their high price because of their geometry?
@justmetoo - Thanks for that info - I've not heard of that cable, but from your description it sounds very similar in some respects to my Helix Cables.Another very similar cable I am aware of is the Interconnect from Anti-Cable http://anticables....
Are cables really worth their high price because of their geometry?
Being a thread about "cable geometry" and since I believe cable design is far more complicated than many believe, I thought I would pass on my own experiences, i.e. for those of you that might be interested...I have been researching cables for abo...
Are cables really worth their high price because of their geometry?
@thyname - many thanks for your comments. It has been  while since I used Kimber Cables and my comments reflected the TOTL cable I used several years agoTheir Naked series (IC's) are a departure from their long time braiding approach and will defi...
Are cables really worth their high price because of their geometry?
@ hiendmmoe - The Geometry of a cable makes a significant difference in cable perofrmance...e.g.... In-Akustic cables have a simple geometry "conceptually", but building them is where it gets extremely tricky, with lots of custom parts and excepti...
Should a stereo soundstage be 3D or 2D?
Perhaps the reason why some live concerts appear two dimensional is because of the two really large "walls" of speakers each side of the stage.Even orchestral concerts are mic'd these days - but if you get in the right concert hall, you will defin...
Should a stereo soundstage be 3D or 2D?
@twoleftears - I think you are correct, in that the first two channel recordings were by comparison to later recordings simply using the two channels to achieve instrument placement in a single dimension across the image. Then sound engineers disc...
Should a stereo soundstage be 3D or 2D?
+1 what @gregm said. With the right speakers, room acoustics, components, and let’s NOT forget cables - a good recording will immerse you in the performance and the size of the venue and its related acoustics will will become very apparent.I have a...
Duelund conversion to DIY Helix Geometry Cabling
@roberttdid WRT.. Your cable is not going to make a bit of difference to the temp of the Powernode. It has a switching supply and nothing your cable does is going to make any difference to the efficiency except maybe make it worse. Since you did...
Duelund conversion to DIY Helix Geometry Cabling
@dbass - I concur with what @wig said :-)Plus -  in addition to stellar low level performance, I find I am able to listen to music at significantly louder levels without fatigue. e.g. Classical music can be a little overbearing at higher levels wi...
Duelund conversion to DIY Helix Geometry Cabling
@stringreen - very similar, but only their IC's - they employ different geometries for speaker and power cablesRegards - Steve
Duelund conversion to DIY Helix Geometry Cabling
@roberttdid - yes it's infra red, but a pretty good one - for the amp I measured in two very specific places - on the faceplate near the heatsink and on the heatsink. Each time the music has been played for a similar length of time and at a simila...
Duelund conversion to DIY Helix Geometry Cabling
@roberttdid - I have been advised by many in the past of the points you have posted above (and more) and have been "ridiculed" in my approach and design. Many people on the various forums where the helix design have been discussed would "appear" to...

@gregm - I use the 16 gauge Mil-spec as listed on my web site with the Mundorf wire and it works extremely well.If oyu use any thicker gauge then it would be difficult to attach the RCA housing because the finished cable is too thick.Regards - Steve
