Anybody here terminate DH Labs BL-1 cable? Since itsikhefez and Erik_Squires both appear to be quite comfortable with DIY projects, I thought I’d share the links to the interconnect and power cables that I now use throughout my system.http://image99.net/blog/files/4127b5fe2694586e383104364...
Anybody here terminate DH Labs BL-1 cable? Re: the c7 connectors lack of ground, connect the ground lead at the mains plug only and cut it short at the c7 end.It provides a little floating shield effect.Regards
Anybody here terminate DH Labs BL-1 cable? For components that do not have a ground pin the following approach can be used1. using the continuity test option on a multi-meter, determine if the neutral side of the RCA socket is connected to the case2. if the RCA neutral is "grounded" to the...
Anybody here terminate DH Labs BL-1 cable? I’ve experimented extensively with the"floating shield" architecture that Erik describes, also using the BL1 and agree, but with one little modification, if the source does not have a ground pin on the power cable, I attach the end connecting neut...
Questioning the need for a DAC Whitesix, discerning a difference between two components is something I also found to be very difficult in the beginning..It wasn't until I got into reviewing some high priced cables/RCA's for the manufacturer and devoting a lot of time to what I ...
Questioning the need for a DAC Spencer, if you know where to look there is plenty of vinyl, especially around the Queen/University-Spadina area. One of the nicest stores for previously enjoyed albums is called Around Again (nice play on words). Most of their stuff is top notch a...
Questioning the need for a DAC Whitestix - FYI - over the last 4 years I have found that IC's and PC's can degrade or enhance the performance of any component.Trying to perform a comparison of two components connected with different IC's and PC's can result in an inaccurate as...
Questioning the need for a DAC Spencer - where do you live ? I'll be right over :-)Anywhere near Toronto, Canada?Kidding aside - given the opportunity, I'm always willing to get together with other Audio enthusiasts to "compare notes"There are so many different things to try a...
Questioning the need for a DAC Spencer...Was I wrong to conclude that the USB implementation of the V-Link192 is superior to the that of the Bofrost/Gungnir? Yes, wrong conclusion. The proper conclusion is that the V-Link 192 & coax cable allows the DAC to receive better/qu...
Questioning the need for a DAC Sbank, The USB port circuitry on the Bifrost/Gungnir both utilize power from the computers USB portDAC's that use power from their own onboard power supply tend to perform so much better than those that use the power from the computers USB port si...
Questioning the need for a DAC Whitestix, I assume you were using the SPDIF input from the Oppo to the Gungnir?Hopefully not using the USB interface in the Gugnir? If you were using the USB interface then the Gungnir was not performing anywhere near it's full potential.I have t...

EI Vs Toroidal Ptss - yes, I looked into the Equitech product line a while back while researching the benefits of various power conditioning approaches and read most of the web site info back then.Scaling up a transformer design to the power levels at which thei...
Best interconnects used for around $500 +? KLE Innovations gZero range, if you can find them. Very hard to find and they go quicklyThe gZero6 and up are excellent.Regards
Dac to remove Digital Glare/ edge Using good cables across the system did it for me.Perhaps the power cable on the DAC made the biggest improvement as far as removing glare. But if your DAC has a good power supply, you might want to try some different IC's |
