Best subwoofer below 40Hz for Magnepan .7?
If you get an Antimode 8033 you will have a more sophisticated room equalization than in most subs, and you are not restricted to those subs that have such room eq. It is very easy to use and quite affordable.
Best subwoofer below 40Hz for Magnepan .7?
The integration problem is that of room modes and not so much of the subs themselves. Dipoles do not excite room modes that much, so combining with ordinary subwoofers highlights the problem. So, for solutions look at1 dipoles subs, to address the...
Iphone 7 as a source
Bluetooth is sonically challenged. The best simple way forward is either an Apple Airport Express or a Chromecast Audio, but both need wifi to connect so will not work on the go. Both have optical digital outputs for unimpaired sound quality. The ...
Why did it take so long
I can only agree with freediver. Geoff, you are not providing evidence, just voodoo.
Subwoofer to go with new BW 804 D3
The most important thing for accurate bass sound is to deal with room modes. For that, it is better to use two smaller subwoofers rather than one big (unless all that matters is to reproduce huge explosions). Additionally, dsp room equalization li...

Chromecast Audio, using its bitperfect optical output? See here for that digital output: http://archimago.blogspot.nl/2016/02/measurements-google-chromecast-audio_27.htmlIf your wifi is not that good, there is an ethernet adaptor as well. An Apple...
Chromecast and external DAC
The Chromecast Audio can also stream from your laptop if you use BubbleUPnP.
Putting Together my First System - Naim Uniti + Spendor or Naim?
PMC make transmision line monitors for more bass, but also one tone bass.My preference would be for the most expensive Harbeth you can afford, with powerful but much cheaper electronics than Naim.
Replace monaural SS radio for talk show
Tivoli Audio Radio 1 or 2 does it for me. I also use my radio 2 when I am on extended trips abroad (with my laptop as a source) and cannot take anything bulkier.
Looking for vintage Quad ESL's - or my wife thinks a "shrink" becase she says I'm crazy!
I agree that dipole subs are indeed a very good idea for Quads because they excite fewer room modes. However, in my experience even ordinary subs can be integrated very well if you use room equalization like the Antimode 8033.
Bookshelf speakers that sound good on a SHELF or SIDEBOARD
The LS3/5a and its successors have been the classic choice. For years I happily used the LS3/5a as my desktop speaker, and only recently replaced it by the far superior Harbeth P3ESR. Both of them have suffered a bit from bass boost as a result of...
Harbeth comparison?
I also have P3ESRs, in the desktop system in my study (driven by a 2x100 watt Quad 405-2). I think they are wonderful, and I know nothing better in that size. But they have their inevitable limitations: they lack deeper bass, and they cannot pump ...
Who makes budget speaker cables which are truly “good” or “exceptional” in quality?
My time is too expensive to waste.
Integrateds: Why do they all SUCK?
Sure, but no digital inputs and not particularly cheap. My observation was that there are numerous really very good integrated amplifiers from mainstream manufacturers with about 100 watt per channel output such as the Yamaha's that I referred to,...
Integrateds: Why do they all SUCK?
There are plenty of perfect integrateds with an output of about 100 watt per channel. A good example would be the Yamaha AS 701/801. The problem arises if you need more power than that. Almost nobody seems to make integrateds with all the modern s...
