Kuzma/Koetsu feedbak??
I have had two Kuzma tables- the Reference and the XL. I still run the XL with an Airline arm. Both have been almost entirely trouble free, and I have gotten support easily and quickly from Scot Markwell here in the States, as well as Franc, when ...
Have you had enough of Classic Rock?
@alexatpos - I can offer a partial explanation in the States and that is the explosive growth of the music business as a youth-aimed product in the later ’60s, when record companies realized that all those kids who liked the ’new’ music were a hug...

Sound Quality of red book CDs vs.streaming
@rvpiano-re the question of master tapes as a source, my impression is that most of the majors will not let the master tape out of the door, and usually supply a flat transfer on hi-rez. There are of course exceptions- the "audiophile labels" like...
Have you had enough of Classic Rock?
I think @tablejockey came closest to where I am when he mention the music that inspired it-* the Chicago electric blues and some of the early UK electric blues players (Mayall, or early Peter Green, who turned in a variety of directions, including...
Movies employing music in a great way.
@geoffkait -Good call on The Third Man, zither by Anton Karas. I used to love that movie and the score is whimsical against very darkly shot (literally and figuratively) scenes.
Movies employing music in a great way.
"Inna Gadda Da Vida" drum solo during the mayhem scene in Manhunter (the first of the movies involving serial murderers based on the Silence of the Lambs books) and in some ways, the best, directed by Michael Mann.
What unknown musical artist would you like to share with your fellow audiophiles?
That old Marti Jones album, "Used Guitars" is great, but the recording, at least on the vinyl issued at the time of release, is a tad bright.Good to see the less mainstream stuff all of you are into--once I learned that old heavy rock had been rec...
Buying my 1st new LP in 42 years..Suggestions?
What kind of music do YOU like?
RCA LC-1 Special?
I don't have an answer but two people who think very highly of the speaker and have far more knowledge about them than me are Jonathan Weiss at Oswald Mill and the redoubtable Robin Wyatt, both in NY metro area. I'm sure they would be happy to tal...
What unknown musical artist would you like to share with your fellow audiophiles?
@kacomess- On the Shore is a very good record. It fits in with some of the other early 'freak folk' including Comus, First Utterance and Mellow Candle’s Swaddling Songs. Meg Baird, who is prolific, had a group of out Philly called Espers- also in ...
linn sondek tt
What is the cost of a fully tricked out Linn today with the ’right’ upgrades, arm, etc.?I first heard one in the early seventies at Opus One in Pittsburgh, a hi-line salon that was really the mindspring of Tasso Spanos, a brilliant, quirky guy who...
Carpenters
Yep, have had a copy of that record forever. It's actually a very good sounding record. enjoy~
Sound Quality of red book CDs vs.streaming
The topic of dynamic compression grew out of my broader question whether streaming services gave access to, and information about, various masterings, I acknowledge the affects of the loudness wars,* but the issue is broader than that and affects ...
