Degritter brand ultrasonic record cleaner
@wakethetown- the Elma P60H is the one that is more reasonable in price, but will require some attention to fill level and record placement due to its smaller size. Offhand, I know from their posts here that @dgarretson and @terry9 are users of th...
Tube Rolling for Pre-amps?
Small tubes often don't fail dramatically in the same way that amp power tubes can- but they will lose their high frequency extension and punch over time. It's almost like a new pair of sneakers- more bounce. I'm not sure it is worth getting carri...

@tomic601 - no problem. If you do go ultrasonic, don’t get rid of your vacuum machine. I find that ultrasonic is not a complete answer with older records that have been exposed to who knows what.@teo_audio- your comments about the resonant frequen...

Kirmuss uses a pretty ubiquitous ultrasonic bath* with the addition of a proprietary spinner that uses multiple slots rather than a rotisserie like the Vinyl Stack. He also uses a fluid that he claims removes all sorts of nasties left over from pr...

The 17F VPI is a fine machine, probably the best one VPI built. Here's pic from the Library of Congress showing a big VPI and a Monks from my visit to the Packard Campus back in December, 2014: https://thevinylpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/...

I use a Monks Omni and ultrasonic. The results are synergistic. I talked to the Degritter people when they first announced the machine a couple years ago, and suggested that coming in at a low price point might give them a real edge in the market....

@n80- here's my thinking on that- elevate the discussion on the subjects of interest and ignore the rest. The philosophical discussions tend to get out of hand sometimes, but I guess anything can go astray. I try to contribute where I can, acknowl...
Is there any "audiophile grade" Reggae out there on CD?
Can't help you on CD, but can give you a few on LP.
How low of the cartridge output the Allnic H3000 can handle?
There is a WWII era military RCA, I think that a lot of folks like and it isn’t crazy money. I’ll see if I can find it for you and post here. I have used old Mullard fat base 1st series, which was OK, not as good as metal base Mullard which is now...

Yep, @wrm57  have done the same things- I think we both had Steelheads, no? Nice to see you, wrm!
Who makes great active preamps ? Tube or solid state or hybrid.
I've been using the Veloce Lithio 2.0 for some time. Although no longer marketed, Vytas still supports it. He did an upgrade for me shortly after I got to Texas a couple years ago, different batteries, some other changes. I never tried it with a s...

Calvin- I've never used a Hytron- some look like Sylvania post WWII, others appear to be like Tung-Sol. I'll have to read up. In the meantime, here's a fun piece about the rectifier compiled by someone known as DubStep Girl who listened to a lot o...
Do posters intend to hurt the feelings of other members?
@mr_m - I think every chat board has a "culture" and from what I've witnessed over many years on other boards in diverse fields is that someone who comes on blazing is not going to get a positive reception. A little humility goes a long way. This ...
How low of the cartridge output the Allnic H3000 can handle?
As a stopgap, I’m using an old Monster Alpha Genesis for the moment- an ancestor of the ZYX--at .2mv output which is pretty low. No issue on my H3000- I did adjust the loading so that it is a little over 100 ohms, compared to my usual Airtights, w...
Do posters intend to hurt the feelings of other members?
@n80--True. I guess my point was that when you engage with people in person, particularly one on one, or in small enough groups that you can have a conversation, people are more alike than different in some ways. You find commonality. And, to come...
