Bookshelf speakers on a bookshelf (Sad)
@mduffy18d You’ve certainly entrusted us with a lot of personal information. What happens in the forum, STAYS in the forum.
NEWS FLASH!! Listening to Music is NOT a "Distraction."
@larsman I totally agree that artistic expression can take us to another destination.  I'll deduct from your comment that the form of that expression is not as important as how it moves us.  After reading the phrase "music is a distraction" multip...
Bookshelf speakers on a bookshelf (Sad)
What?!!  Bookshelf speakers not good on bookshelves? There was a study that concluded duct tape was not good for ducts. It”s all coming into focus now.

If you're willing to look past the theology, religious leaders can be excellent teachers. Like a church sign I came across a while back: "A good friend stabs you in the front."   Many parallels and contemporary references in one, simple sentence.
When a budget speaker is preferred to a high end one...
Outstanding posts! If I recall correctly, the Dahlquist DQ-10 used a $5 Motorola piezo as a "super tweeter". Not many of us will dispute the legitimacy of this speaker as one of the most impactful speakers of our time. Genius has a way of leap fro...

I push a button and music plays.  Everything beyond that (staging, bandwidth, high resolution, etc.) is a plus.  And very much appreciated.
Not a question, but a comment.
@dweller Yes, that outboard timer/switch on the original Betamax was not consumer friendly.. And, with 1-hour record time you had to decide if you wanted to record the first half, second half or middle half of the game. It was much easier back th...
New user phono question. Comes with free story.
Stylii get old and tired.  A new cartridge should liven things up.  Very good recommendations by others on this forum.
The greatest tweak ever?
You can always return it if you don't like it.  Might have to be a little "creative" in the language used for the justification for the return:  "The celllos in my system are little thin.  This device didn't help" may not be the best approach.
Has this happened to you? How can it be stopped?
It's difficult to impossible to support an emotional argument with a pragmatic approach.  "Vintage" to some is "old" to others.  While "old" is factually correct, it falls short in defining all the elements of our attachment to "vintage" gear. Ow...

@2psyop I don’t see a problem here. You just need to use the 1:1 spending method with your wife. For each dollar you spend on "irrational" purchases for you, you graciously allow her to "invest" the same amount in "irrational" purchases for her. J...

@sfgak good one 😀

This also brings up the classic "Chicken and Egg" question. Did the industrial designers develop a piece of art, present it to the engineers and say: "Here, make it play music"? Or, did the engineers develop their idea of the "ultimate B&O sp...

@roxy54 i’ve always respected B&Os ability to produce works of art that play music.  When we were a B&O dealer way back when, we unapologetically made the customer aware that a good potion of their investment was in the esthetics of the pr...

@jon_5912Mr. Bernays’ bio is quite interesting.  The comments under the “Philosophy” heading have present day implications.
