Tube Equipment: Gimmick?
I believe I read that John Curl said that tubes are more linear than transistors. Transistors are not superior in every way, especially if you want music to sound real. Van Alstine will also tell you why he uses tubes in the input stage of his pow...
ribbon or electrostatic speakers
VMPS speakers will do what you want with ease. They're hybrids but the ribbons handle 166hz to 10khz. All the slam you could want.
I have a lack of depth in "soundstage".
Room acoustics and speaker placement are huge. Acoustic treatment is a bargain for the sound improvement gained. No doubt about it. It's amazing room treatment almost seems like an obscure subject but if you want the best your system is capable of...
CD integrated v. DAC
Well there's a good reason that outboard dacs cost what they do and that's because they are usually far superior to built in dacs. On a changer it's pretty much a no brainer. Both of you guys would most likely be better off using your changers and...
Canadian tariffs, duties, etc?
UPS also charges alot to the Canadian buyer. Contact the buyer on this as I believe UPS rips them off.
I need a Pre-Amp What should I get?
Try a tube preamp. You'll like the smoothness and richness. They come from slightly euphonic to very eupononic. You'll have to decide what is best. I wouldn't consider a SS pre with an Adcom amp, but that's just me.
Should Genesis V's be toed-in?
Speaker position is critical. Your room has it's own signature. One advantage of toeing in is reducing first reflections off of nearby walls. I actually toe my VMPS speakers in so that they crossfire about two feet in front of me. Move them around...

The Audio Research Database
I'm sure alot of people will appreciate this effort. One of the few companies something like this is worthwhile. Being as Kevyo can't even spell a common one syllable word like "waste" properly tell us a few things about him besides his being nega...

If you like the sound of the Maggies you should look into some VMPS ribbon speakers. They've been raved about enough. More info in the VMPS circle at audiocircle.com. These are much easier to place and you wouldn't need a sub. You may find that yo...

Which preamp? Audible Illusions Rogue Audio ARC
It should be mentioned that the different tube preamps will have different flavors. The ARC being quite accurate with what I consider the perfect amount of tube sound, which is slight. You can go from there. There are some that will make the detai...

Do a search on digital amps and you'll find many standalone amplifiers that are digital. More are coming out. It will be the next big deal in power amplifier design.
