Best Rock Albums in 2009, so far
The new Sonic Youth is their best in a coon's age, ranking among their very finest records, IMO. Also really like TV On The Radio's new one, which came out earlier in the year.
any early 80's alt/soft punk fans out there?
jaybo,I do not know how to express my envy that you got to see them live. Talk about a great, short lived band!

One of my favorites from the period was the Human Switchboard's "Who's Landing In My Hangar?" Just a phenomenal record, which, unfortunately, has never been released on CD to my knowledge.

Marqueemoon (great moniker, by the way),Man, that is a fantastic catch on the Go Betweens. One of my very favorite bands from that period. The solo albums of Robert Forster and Grant McLennan (especially the acoustic-driven "Horsebreaker Star") ar...

Bongofury,How could you mention Cow Punk without making reference to Jason and the Scorchers? Best live band I've ever seen...

Loved the Gang Of Four and XTC suggestions.Since we are moving away a bit from the "soft punk" category--which sounds kind of like an oxymoron, even though I think I know what the OP is getting at--the floodgates really do open. How about Sonic Yo...

The Feelies, especially "The Good Earth," would qualify, I think. The Church also put out some good stuff around then. I'd like to have a dollar for every time I played "Murmur" in those days. Ah, college!

Hi Brian,I have them in a rack, sitting on maple butcher blocks. The blocks made a nice difference.

I actually thought about the Spectron before ultimately deciding on the Samsons. Once I got the Samsons, I stopped thinking about the Spectron---or any other amp. They continue to amaze me every day.
Reference 3A Grand Veena's
I appreciate the responses from everyone. Great feedback, and a lot of food for thought. Another possibility I suppose is moving up the Piega line. I'll try to get around to hearing a few different speakers over the summer and see what, if anythin...
Edgy Trip Hop Recommendations
Yhave you heard the Massive Attack and Tricky albums? If not, checking those out is a must.
Audiophile grade country
Good call, Pehare. In fact, John Doe is STILL an X man. Saw them last night in Asheville, NC, and they sound better than ever! The new countrified album with the Sadies is very good, too.
Notice to all. Bob Williams of Audionut deceased.
Then what is the point of the post? I didn't know Bob Williams either, but obviously several members here did. Why not let them mourn his passing and share stories without interjecting pointless, insensitive comments? It is actually possible to ha...
Gabriel Gold IC's are they really this good?
How about "The Armageddon"? Now there's a marketing campaign I'd like to see!
