Ghost in the machine? Try unplugging everything and then see if you are getting any noise through the speakers. I have a neighbor with a ham radio, and every so often I will pick up noise from that. If you are using unshielded cables, they may be acting as an antenna.
Teo Game-Changer IC's - get on the bus! Denon1, no, not directly. I agree with you that the Jade hybrids are outstanding--I had them for several years and sold them as part of a total system overhaul a few years ago. I would love to get another pair to compare to the Cerious, though the...

High End Amp Price Collapse musings My experience, though undoubtedly different for any number of reasons, nevertheless varies from Grannyring's. A couple of years back, I sold my tube-based system--tube amp, tube preamp, tube dac--and bought a Devialet D200. In the beginning, I tho...
Cerious Technologies NEW Graphene Cables I have to agree with those who have been singing the praises of Bob's speaker cables. I just added them to my system, and they are easily the best I have heard by a country mile. I also love his power cords and interconnects, but these speaker cab...
Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225 Glad to see this thread still active. I am having a real love affair with my 508. The addition of some NOS Sylvania VT231s in place of the Electro Harmonix 6SN7 stock tubes made a significant improvement in refinement and musicality. I just ordere...
VAC sigma 160 vs. Primaluna HP vs. other If you are interested in investigating other possibilities, I would recommend looking at the Line Magnetic integrateds. I recently bought a Line Magnetic 508ia, and it is simply remarkable.
Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225 Jkull, it looks like you are on the right track. I have no personal experience with the Psvane tubes, but I have heard good things and I certainly trust Charles' experience and recommendations. I also agree with his perspective that it makes sense...
Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225 Thanks again, folks, for your excellent suggestions. I liked the 508ia right out of the box, but after 40-50 hours, I just wasn't getting the refinement I wanted, which I (correctly, I think) attributed to the stock Electro Harmonix 6SN7 and Sovte...
Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225 Hi Al,You make an excellent point. I am investigating the amp's design to see whether are any compatibility issues with any of the 6SN7 types. Thanks for the reminder. Thanks also for your tips on specific tubes. I'll scout around for a pair of GE...
Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225 Hi Charles,I had and loved the VAC Ren 70/70 for several years, but sold it along with the matching preamp and then bought the Devialet, which sounded "good" but in the end just did not engage me emotionally. In short, I missed that old tube magic...
Line Magnetic 219ia vs Mc225 After a failed experiment moving from tubes to a Devialet-based system, I punted a few months ago, sold the Devialet, and have painstakingly rebuilt my system. I am currently auditioning the 508ia as the final piece of the puzzle. The fit and fini... |
