High pass quality to mains uisng Velodyne DD subs
I have been a fan of subwoofers ever since they weren't mainstream because having clean 20Hz reproduction is much more than just getting deep bass; it also does wonders for soundstaging and imaging since most of the ambience of the original venue ...
High pass quality to mains uisng Velodyne DD subs
Eldartford, I guess your points make sense. By the way, the Velodyne high pass is also 6dB/octave.Rwwear, I know what you say, but I would use the SMS-1 with my current REL and maybe an ACI Force later.
help integrating a musical sub for minimonitors
The ACI Force is a good bet, but ACI doesn't recommend the built-in high pass, suggesting instead you use their dedicated high-pass filters. You would then have to use a Y adapter (ACI sells these too). I suggest you also experiment with plugging ...
High pass quality to mains uisng Velodyne DD subs
I have asked the same question a couple of times without getting any answer, but I intend to purchase a SMS-1 and will certainly try the high pass. A better way to minimize the tradeoff between transparency and distortion may be to use a separate ...
Vandersteen 5A or Eggleston Works Andra II
I have a comment and a question for those who have heard both speakers. Years ago I listened to the original Vandersteen 5s and liked them very much; however, both by itself and when compared to the original Eggleston Andra, with which I was very ...
High Speed Ripping Laboratory for EAC
I don't find ripping CDs to be hard work once you have configured EAC; I use my computer daily and just ripping in the background does it for me.
Any info on Design Acoustics?
If you like omnidirectional speakers, D-6s and D-12s were some of the great omnis many years ago.
Help with speakers for audio refinement complete
I suggest you try Triangles too. Great combination.
Sound card VS Squeeze box
I switched to PC Audio with a Bolder-modded SB2 directly driving mono amps and can't be any happier.
Roku SoundBridge vs. SqueezBox3
Wireless completely isolates the SB from the computer and its power supply.
Swans m200 or Powered studio monitors?
Yes, there is a big difference between Swans M200 and typical computer speakers; the Swans sound more like a good $300 minimonitor but with built-in amplifiers.
What can come after Apogee Divas ?
analysis audio Omega.
Best DAC for 1,000?
Maybe Firestone Spitfire + Supplier PS = $410? Good reviews including reliable purchasing.
what is the best sub for $1500.00 or less
I love RELs, but times are a'changin. Velodyne DD-10's digital room correction is worth the entire budget and you can find one for close to that. The Axiom EP-500 is a steal at $1,150, same for the ACI Titan at $1,050 or two (!) ACI Forces for $1,...
Thoughts on Egglestonworks Andra II
I am familiar with the Andras (both I and II) and like their natural midrange and their almost unique ability to reproduce a full-height soundstage from what is a smallish floorstander.
