I've got the Summertime Blues. Power conditioner necessary?
You might not need to spend a lot to solve this issue. I was having some noise issues as well. And sometimes crackles coming thru the speakers during summer storms that happened often where I live. On a recommendation from another forum I bought a...
Which Subwoofer would you choose?
Another vote for the Dayton from Parts Express. They are new with warranty and fit your budget. Parts express stands behind their products. I've used several in this line of subs when setting up budget systems and you can't get more for your money.
Vibration isolation an issue in a concrete basement
That's very interesting. Thanks!
Vibration isolation an issue in a concrete basement
Geoffkait, that's very interesting. Where can I find information on the type of platform you describe? Thanks.
Vibration isolation an issue in a concrete basement
I am tackling the room acoustic issues next. It sounds like the siesmic vibration issue would be difficult to address given the low frequencies that are involved. Isolation effective down to 1HZ could be a challenge. That's if the info I found on ...
Opinions needed on some Klipsch for 2 channel
Take a look at the KG4.2. Not expensive $3-400.  Don't need a sub in a room your size. They image well and crank.
Don't waste money on ultrasonic RCMs
I see tons of people that claim alcohol has no effect on vinyl. I've tried lab grade 99.8% pure IPA and I can see the vinyl change when it hits the surface. The color changes from a deep black shiny color to dull gray- black. Has anyone else obser...
Is this MQA news a big deal?
Yes it's very important. It's taking hold. And I can't seem to find any information that shows we really need it. What I do know: Record companies and equipment manufacturers have to pay a license fee to incorporate MQA. That gets passed on to you...
Talk but not walk?
This discussion has been enlightening. One particular idea that hit home with me is tuning a system to negate what is at first thought of as a bad recording. I've done this. But I won't anymore. I just want to listen and enjoy music most of the ti...
Does anyone leave their amp and preamp on all the time?
That's all very helpful. I never considered the fire risk. My preamp has been modified and there is no off-switch. I could pull the plug I guess. I am looking for a bigger Bedini to bi-amp with. I have a 100/100. That amp ran very hot and I didn't...
Thoughts on the most difficult instruments for speakers to reproduce?
Yes speakers and equipment have limitations. But Its the recording that is often the real limitation. Several on this thread stated that the speakers can compress the sound of instruments like violin, piano, or just a simple cymbal crash. Speakers...
Turntables... Thorens v Denon
I've had many Denon TTs over the years. I have set up and repaired many more. I have never seen a GT750 and it is not listed in any of the catalogs I can find. some exist on resell sites, and it looks like it might be a European market version. I ...
