Power Cord for $50 or less?
Try to find a used first generation shunyata venom. The new Venom 3 lists for 99 bucks but will probably be available soon for used rates. The venom blows away anything else I've heard sub 300. The resale value on Shunyata wire is the highest and ...
How do you determine how much to spend on speakers
Beerdraft,When I initially saw the forum title, I laughed out loud and then I remembered how I started this hobby and it's been fun to look back. Thanks for updating this old question and giving a kick to my memory banks (those just tuning in shou...
Recomendations Please
Jelliott,I completely understand budget limitations. Try a $99 Venom3...I'm sure it'd match well with the Duet...it's *much* better than the entry level psaudio cord. I've heard both. PS Audio's current top of the line cords are very good, though.
suggestions for preamp/amp combos
Catboy44106,Let us know what you end up doing. And I apologize for those who ignore your question and try to correct decisions you're clearly happy with. I'm always interested when someone discovers a good amp/preamp combo, so if you stumble on to...
Recomendations Please
I've never personally compared the Shunyata pc's with the AQ's power cords. Reviews would suggest they're not as good as Shunyata's line but one's own ear is always the best judge. I personally think you'll get more bang for your buck by upgrading...
Recomendations Please
Jelliott78,Since you're open to power improvement, you also might want one day to purchase a power conditioner. In terms of straight bang for the buck, a Shunyata Hydra is even better than single power cords...even more so considering your pre doe...
suggestions for preamp/amp combos
I've had excellent results with a conrad-johnson CT5 and a Classe Delta 2200 amplifier. I can't tolerate bright electronics but I also don't want my system to sound sluggish or bloated. Used, this exceeds your budget a bit. The cj 17LS would be a ...
Recomendations Please
If everything suggested doesn't quite get what you want, you might want to try a better power cord for any of your components. A very inexpensive choice would be Shunyata's latest entry level cord, the Venom 3. I'm no dealer and have no vested int...
Bidat vs Perfect Wave vs Weiss and others
Lush, Thanks for the fascinating post. Given the 512's $15,000 price tag, I imagine you'll be keeping the bitstream?
Has anyone tried the Shunyata Diamondback PC?
Jtimothya,You summed up the Shunyata "magic" much more clearly and eloquently than I could. I wish someone had given me your advice before I started experimenting with PC's. I completely agree that the ad hoc approach is fraught with difficulty. I...
Has anyone tried the Shunyata Diamondback PC?
I have been feeding my older Shunyata power cords to friends when I decide to upgrade. When I upgraded to the Python line, a buddy of mine decided he had nothing to lose and agreed to take my Diamondbacks. Like everyone, he was skeptical until I c...
Bidat vs Perfect Wave vs Weiss and others
Glory,Perhaps I responded to harshly, but I just wanted us to stick to the point of the forum. If you're ever in the St. Louis area, bring your dac over and I'd be happy to let you listen to it compared to mine. Most people who own the fully modde...
Bidat vs Perfect Wave vs Weiss and others
Glory,You clearly know your audio. What are these incredible cables that you've found? I'm sure they'll impress everyone on this forum because, obviously, no one who's posted here, me included, would have ever tried any esoteric cables. We're just...
Need suggestions about replacing a Classe' 2200
Sound guy,After 18 years of listening to high end systems, I think I'll stick to what is the culmination of Jim Thiel's illustrious and well-documented career. The CS3.7's (they beat the 7.2's and I KNOW this from experience) are perfect for my ro...
Need suggestions about replacing a Classe' 2200
Kal,Are you talking about the latest ones...because if you are, I'd have to win the lottery. My bad for not specifying price range. I can't afford anything that listed new for more than 10k. I could manage the CAM 400's, but I'd like to know wheth...
