NAD T778
Nice device.  Very stable.  Has an upgrade path for when tech comes out.  NAD sounds neutral which will be a fine pairing with Vienna Acoustic.  The most important feature is Room correction and they recently upgraded to DIRAC Live vs Audyssey whi...
845 Tubes, what's a good source in US?
No idea.  Now that Grant Fidelity is not carrying them, not a clue.
845 Tubes, what's a good source in US?
I am a tube retailer and 845s are a pain. Only a few in current production and the KR is potentially a very bad choice as it is not a drop in substitute for most amps. The filament current on it is much lower 1.0 Amp vs the tube spec of 3.25 amps....
Magico Customer service
If a product is under warranty, even if the product is sold, many companies honor that warranty. PS Audio or Chord are great examples. As long as you have the bill of sale from original purchase, they will cover repairs under warranty. If a produc...
EL 34 tubes
I had a customer just order a pair of Sophia EL34 for a Lampizator DAC and was raving about them.  Seems like they are delivering a pretty good tube.
Best Server To Run Roon Core
A Roon server is just that, it is only a Server and its job is solely to handle your music library and communicate with either Qobuz or Tidal.  A Roon player/renderer processes either the track served to it by server off of your local drive or fro...
Best Server To Run Roon Core
This depends.  Servers range in price from a few hundred dollars for a NUC up to $35K for a Taiko.  If you are at the very high end, you want to take into account what is your preferred connection, what clock you are going to use, etc...  Do you h...
Choosing new speakers after 20 years
You amp is severely underpowered for the speakers you have and those Sonus Fabers.  You will find that a better match will radically improve bass performance.  I would check out:Zu Audio Soul Supreme - Killer speaker and very exciting/dynamic.  Wi...
I have been wanting to try using a tube amp.
I agree with Atmasphere and that speaker is not well suited for tubes.  I have heard it driven well via a McIntosh MC275 but it was a pair that was bridged mono at 150w.  Not sure 200w is required but it is very clear the 20-30w you will get out o...
Marten speakers
No personal experience but a friend heard them last year at the audio show in Taiwan.  He said it was one of the three best sounding rooms at the show only topped by MBL and Focal, both with $200k+ systems.  The passive radiators help deliver a bi...
What makes speaker's sound big?
There a a million factors that dictate how big a speaker will sound.  The key factor is output coming out of the speaker, not in terms of SPL or sensitivity but dampening.  A box that is well damped will have minimal cancelation inside.  Tweeter d...
Separates or not?
You will get better performance with separates unquestionably.  It is uncommon to find a great preamp with a built in phono stage.  That being said, there are some great units that will perform well and have very good phono stages.  This is a pain...
Time to retire a retipped Linn Troika. Best replacement cartridge?
I have recently owned a Lyra Kleos on a Linn table.  I also have a Ortofon Cadenza Blue on a few different tables.  Hands down, I fell the Cadenza is the better cartridge.  There may be other great options but I would be surprised if you are not h...
Question on Streamer/Dac and Roon
In a roon system the server handles any local music and communication with your streaming service and the player/renderer processes your tracks, and applies DSPs.  I had a dedicated PC just to running Roon and when I moved from it to a Nucleus+, I...
Would you Upgrade?
From a tonal perspective, I don't think there is any question that the Classe and Focals will work together.  They also have enough power to drive the Focals without issue.  You described the demo room, but not your room that I can see.  What does...
