Time to upgrade the pre-amp.
Lower the better. 6dB is good.  You aren’t going to find many preamps in the market that are going to be active and have lower gain.
Time to upgrade the pre-amp.
Best performance with that PX25 is going to have very little gain due to the high sensitivity of that amp.  The Art Audio Conductor or Conductor Simply MKii has an active tube stage with no gain (changes impedance) for optimal performance.  Whatev...
Moving from integrated to separates
I don't know if the price have moved but you might consider the McIntosh C22 preamp and MC275 power amp.  This is very good sounding gear and I think it looks really good.  The MC275 is not be all end all in terms of detail but on budget, for new ...
Chord Dac
The Qutest is a wonderful DAC.  Regarding upgrading, with a TT2 you will get a wider, deeper and more stable soundstage (better separation) compared to the Qutest.  It will be more detailed and the overall listening experience would be more immers...
Nucleus, is there a better alternative?
K41 is a nice solution.  It offers an extremely clean ethernet input.  I have tried it as an alternative to the Nucleus + as that is my other server.  This will be an improvement as the processor is quieter and the direct connect from Antipodes to...
DAC Merry Go 'Round- why I stopped at Weiss
FYI…the “upgrade” is available for existing devices or can be ordered new.  The unit 501 or 502 v2 is the four channel version.  What is noteworthy is it has the very latest chips from ESS in it.  My first order with one just arrived. Not sure if ...
Need an integrated amp that sounds engaging at lower volume
Usually, the issue at low volumes is that the bass gets rolled off.  This is made worse be speakers with smaller drivers.  Look for an integrated with a “loudness” button.  This will engage a DSP that makes things sound better at low volumes.  I b...
Just got a new Bluesound Node. Very disappointed!
Did you turn off the clock as another poster suggested?  This has a huge impact on sound quality.  It always makes a positive difference when you have an external DAC
For those that have separate Streamers & DACS
Did you get a connection finally. Other macs shouldn’t cause an issue.  Did you restart the Innuos?  There is something wonky preventing the two from talking.  Does your Innuos have a direct Ethernet connection between device and DAC?  I think it ...
For those that have separate Streamers & DACS
@badgerdms odds are you aren’t getting an IP address on the device.  Restart your router.  If you have a Mac Mini on your network turn it off while you try to connect the M3. Restart the server feeding the M3.     those are next steps
Has anyone herd the Hegel h390
If you like clean, clear and articulate, Hegel is for you.  I would not be shocked if you like Hegel coming from Bryston.  What Model 4B is your Bryston?  Are you trading for a new or used Hegel?   Quality of the deal depends on those factors.
Digital All in ones, i.e. Naim Uniti Nova
AVM C2.3 is $7k and a really nice one box solution. The DAC won’t be a Meitner but their sound should appeal to you if you are a Meitner fan. AVM has units between like $7k and $18k in their all-in-one range.
For those that have separate Streamers & DACS
@badgerdms in the Roon “audio” menu under settings you need to find the M3 and enable it.  Once you do that, you need to select the M3 as a zone.  If you have done that already, then I need to dig a little deeper.
What next after Lumin T2
I have had the Lumin T2 in on trade and spent about 3 weeks with it as an every day DAC and tested it against a bunch of devices including Bricasti.  If you were really happy with the T2, I would look at Weiss or Chord as alternatives.  Both the W...
Antipodes K50
Awesome!   I have the Oladra coming in August to hopefully get to the next level.  I am in production run two.  Will be pairing it with the MPD-8 from Playback in my main system.
