AMPLIFIER BLOCKS Granite , matching the wood floor will be tough. The granite will also protect the flooring from the Krell's oppressive heat.
Age old discussion I know but MM or MC? Benefits? I am lucky, I have and use both MC and MM cartridges. One tt set up for MM and the another for MC. I listen to classic rock most of the time so the MM is used a lot. The late 80's to present vinyl seem to sound better with the MC. Currently m...
Mounting a Jelco Tonearm Lou, So are you going to tell us Jelco owner what the conclusion was, or are we gonna wonder if our arms are installed correctly?
Tubes I would not think twice, they are the best of the 12AX7 reissues. I have them in my pre-amp. I also really like the Mullard 12AX7 reissues.
Static Electricity on Vinyl I get rid of static electricity with a spray bottle of distilled/demonized water and a Nitty Gritty Vacuum Record Cleaning Machine. I lightly spray the LP, then suck up the water with the NG. I get static free and clean LP's.

20 Year Old Amplifiers compared to 2017 I use to have a VTL 300 Deluxe Mono Blocks from the early 90's, pretty basic amps. I replaced them with VTL 450MKII Mono Blocks. The sonic improvement was minor, just a bit more power but the Fault Protection and Auto Biasing is a huge improveme...

Tube amp I've been using VTL 450MKII tube amp with my B&W 801S3 for years. I also have a not often used Jolida 1000a intergrated amp that uses EL-34's tubes. The VTL is smooth with good bass and is in line with modern high powered tube amps. The Joli...
Krell KSA 200S Owners A few years back I owned a Krell 200FPB stereo amp. When powering up, lights in the room dimmed. Checking the manual for power requirements. It turns out Krell recommends a 20 amp circuit. Have a look in the manual
VTL Service ?? I own VTL 450MKII and before that VTL 300. Both products were purchased used, When I had a problem with the 300's I called them. VTL was reluctant to help me because I did not buy it from them. I took the amps to them and they verified no one ...
Tube Amplifier for Thiel Yes from time to time I'll play SACD or DVD-A disc. Since adding a video monitor to my system I've been using it for DVD Concerts and loving it.
Tube Amplifier for Thiel I have Thiel CS6's. I don't use them often, preferring B&W 801S3 but when the 6's are used they are with VTL 450 MKII amps. Like Stevecham I was using Krell then switched to tubes. Big changes, the bass became less pronounced, still very go...
Switch preamp? Before going to far, check the manual of the Krell. I use to have an older Krell 200 FPB stereo amp. When I added a tube pre, I had to open the amp up and remove a small jumper(manual switch) connector. Something about tubes damaging the amp. ... |
