How Many Tweeters Does A Speaker Need?? It's all about meeting design goals. The typical reason to add more front firing tweeters would be to up the sensitivity. Of course there are pros and cons to that approach. Rear firing ambience tweeters are used to put more treble energy into the...
Bybee Speaker Bullets? With basic skills and tools it's very easy to install Bybee's on the terminals of most speaker drivers, get better effect, and for much less money than the Speaker Bullets.I just built a pair of Cirrus Whites (very high resolution speaker) with Si...
x-over resistor replacement query Regarding the Caddock metal film, probably not a great idea to replace a 10W resistor with a 2W one. Depending on where it is in the circuit it may be fine, but then again may not. There are a few 11ohm options, the Dueland and also Parts Express ...
What is best way to learn to build own equipment? Wow Vapor1! Are you kidding? If I could, I'd be breaking your door down tomorrow.Seriously ... but how about waiting till Monday :)Get in touch with me at ryan@vaporsound.com
possibility of refinishing speaker If those side panels can be removed it would be a relatively straightforward job. It would even be easy to re-veneer them with whatever you choose. If they're not removable however, the job would be MUCH more difficult.
What is best way to learn to build own equipment? SW MO huh, that's where I grew up. Come to St Louis sometime and we'll teach you all you'll ever want to know about speaker building. And Pete being an electrical engineer can show you the ropes with amp design.
Can I replace a 24uF capacitor with 22uF? Vapor1, I am intrigued by this idea. Can the 4uF cap really have that much influence even though it is only roughly 16% of the total capacitance?Yes, with some caveats. The Clarity ESA and MR are very similar in character, so this approach works w...
Can I replace a 24uF capacitor with 22uF? 24uf of Clarity MR is quite expensive. I'd suggest using a 20uf Clarity ESA 630v and parallel a 4uf Clarity MR for the final value. That'll give you 95% of the benefit of using the MR for full value.
Are software players really different ? Very cool, and gotta say a nice effort in trying to objectify things. The data is useful, but as I'm sure you realize a bit hard to intrepret into anything you could use to draw a conclusion. I'd say keep working on ways to display the data, maybe...
Best cdp under $2,500 I'd suggest finding a used Simaudio Eclipse, one of the later ones with the PSX power supply.
Stereo sub amp recommendations Checkout the Behringer iNuke DSP line of amps ... they're perfect for the job, and do a lot more than plate amps.
Singer sounds lower than ear level, help raise it Many, could even say most, speakers have a forward lobe that tilts downward. Imagine an axis where all drivers combine (sum) perfectly, most speakers that axis is not straight out but slopes down toward the floor. You can't change it without a tot...
Frequency Response I find it ludicrous that people can't just give you an answer. It should be noted that linearity is very important but you didn't ask for that information. The OP asked for guidelines in regard to frequency response. Addressing linearity is FAR mor...
Frequency Response Extension at either end is less important than linearity in-between. Meaning the amount of +/-, or how 'flat' they measure. Personally I'd say at most +/- 3db over it's operating range, and +/- 1.5db being what I insist upon myself.
Vapor Cirrus Black vs dc10 Berlin Studio Monitor Mountain-high - Jp1208 is going to tell you that I have numerous alternate sign in usernames and post things bashing other manufacturers using them. It's nothing more than sour grapes. Many many people met Doc77 last weekend in Denver, who I'm sur... |
