New Lampizator Level 4/ Version 4 DAC in the house
No pictures yet as the first pair is still under construction, but soon. Prototypes were built to test the design, now we're finishing up the final production version. They'll have plenty of output for medium sized rooms with as little as, for exa...
New Lampizator Level 4/ Version 4 DAC in the house
Hey Fred, we're really looking forward to the show as well! I'll have some time to get to know the Lampizator at home, which will also be fantastic. With the room we've put together I have no doubt it'll be a must hear.We (Vapor Audio) will be deb...
AXPONA or T.H.E. Newport?
Axpona was very good least year, and I'm expecting it to be even better this year. The rooms are a bit larger than your typical hotel room, so they sound a bit better as well. That gives attendees a better chance to hear what the systems can reall...
Dueland CAST PIO
I don't know why anybody would say the OIMP isn't a good sounding cap. My experience, they're the best at their price point, and sound fantastic just as everything Chris VenHaus produces does.
Any San Francisco area Vapor owners?
Hi Bander, I don't think we have any owners in the Bay Area right now. Closest would be a Cirrus Black owner in Sacramento, and then we have many owners in So Cal.
How quiet is your room?
Using my Triplett SPL meter, right about 32-33db ... when I take a breath while measuring, it goes up to 37db :) It's a purpose built from scratch audio room, and performs incredibly well.
Sub-woofer fast enough for Horns?
What makes you think horns are 'faster' than anything else? Empirically horns would measure slower than any other type of speaker due to all the stored energy from reflections inside the throat. My suspicion is that the Rel sub was just fine, it's...
Speaker advice redux?
Duke, your premise is fundamentally correct in that power compression will affect tonal balance. However, your assumptions of 1db up to 3db just aren't accurate for well engineered drivers. Modern Klippel testing has shown that for top tier driver...
Does this speaker exist?
Drubin - I sent you an email. I hope you find what you're looking for!
Does this speaker exist?
Drubin - I'm the owner of Vapor Audio. We have a tour going where we send a pair of Breeze from one person to the next, giving a lot of people a chance to hear them. Where are you located? They might be making a pass close to you.
Steve guttenberg
The first amendment.Better watch your use of that! You'll get an IRS audit, someone listening to your phone calls, and a drone circling over your house. How's that for taking the thread in a different direction :)
Speakers that can be placed close to the back wall
Hey Chuck, yes we use the EBS alignment on some of our designs and it definately helps make boomy bass a non-issue. Front ported or rear ported, makes no difference ... it's the length of the port and size of the cabinet that determines tuning. On...
Speakers that can be placed close to the back wall
The most important factor in choosing a speaker that's going to live close to walls is how the bass is tuned. Walls/boundaries will boost bass, possibly by a large amount. If you have a typical QB3/flat bass tuning and put that speaker close to a ...
Auricaps vs Dayton caps
No, they're not the same product.
Can anyone identify the little black speakers ...
That's not an Aurum Cantus, it has a Kapton type tweeter ... not an aluminum foil ribbon that Aurum Cantus would have. It looks to be a DIY build.
