which floor speaker up to 1500.00
Zd542 - I suppose I should clarify the position I made above. When I owned the 1C's was when I was beginning speaker design, or more appropriately at the time ... tinkering. I know because I had the 1C's completely disassembled many times. I rewir...
which floor speaker up to 1500.00
I'm clearly not trying to hide behind a screen name. The 1C isn't exactly a great example of quality components and contruction in a floorstander for under $2k. Retail price for all the drivers and crossover components used would be under $200, an...
which floor speaker up to 1500.00
I thought you were looking at monitors? Under $2000 you're not going to find a floorstander that uses quality components AND has a resonance free cabinet. You need both if imaging and soundstaging are your most important considerations. Cabinet re...
PMC vs. Salk Sound Speakers. Which is better?
Haha, no I'm not saying anything is snake oil or that anything isn't necessary. What I'm saying is that smart designers use as few parts as necessary to do the job perfectly, and no more. I was also saying that the majority of the parts on that PM...
PMC vs. Salk Sound Speakers. Which is better?
Audiozen - seriously? This is a stunning piece of work?http://www.avforums.com/forums/attachments/speakers/93494d1223327522-pmc-ob1i-crossover-ob1i-xo.jpgPlenty of electrolytics, iron core inductors, and $.25 sand cast resistors. Those are not hig...
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Beautiful performance, thanks for sharing RX8man. I love the 'finesse' SRV uses, delicately building the tension. That's the work of a seasoned artist.
Breakout DAC for 2013?
As a BMC dealer, I'm VERY excited about the release of the PureDac at $1600http://www.hionhifi.com/b-m-c-puredac/
Listening fatigue
I have no experience with the Mite, but judging by this measurement which I found from a Mite owner, it's easy to see what would be causing the fatigue - the top end is tipped up significantly, probably intentionally to give the sensation of more ...
Duelund CAST silver a $50,000 Upgrade?
Somebody is obsessed with me! This must be what Erin Andrews felt like, lol.
The usual suspects: S1, Cirrus, Tempesta, MMM1
The cirrus has an excellent cabinet but the MDF stands are killing me and you must have the stands because the x-over is stuffed into the base of the stand and i mean stuffed! Plus the owner is a grade A tool.Haha, love it! I've moved up to Grade A!
Best wire/cable for Raal tweeters?
The best is Siltech silver/gold. That's what RAAL uses to wind the transformer core if you upgrade your RAAL's to silver/gold tranny windings. Go with 4 runs of 24ga, 2 for + and 2 for -, and hand braid them. If you can't find Siltech silver/gold,...
Square room Soundstage??
Darkstar - read over my earlier response again. I think the details you need are included, but to try and clarify. In a very small room like that, you need to cover most of your wall space with treatments. Not necessarily floor to ceiling, but 4 f...
Square room Soundstage??
Near field is producing the best results in that room because it helps take the room out of the equation. The first impulse (direct from the speakers) is higher in amplitude relative to the room reflections. In a way, that confirms that treating t...
Square room Soundstage??
That is a TOUGH room size, about as bad as it gets for taming room acoustics and nodes. You're going to have a heavy bass node around 63-65hz, and a big suckout around 95hz, then another node about 125-130hz. Add on top of that early high-amplitud...
