Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
@t_ramey I've been using the Veritas Audax USB for a while now and really enjoy it. Excellent articulation and the always elusive musicality that we all want. I did a comparison with a bunch of other quality cables, and I ended up liking the Auda...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
@charliee They have always been really fast with replies, sometimes within the hour but not always. I notice the new "contact us" page has a line about how they are still fine tuning the settings for the new site. That line wasn't there when I in...
PrimaLuna EVO 400 v Cary SLI-100
PrimaLuna doesn't seem to get as much love around here compared to many other brands. Not sure why that is. I tried almost a dozen integrated amps (mostly tube based) not too long ago and ended up buying the Evo 300. It just sounded "right" in my ...
Accuphase Design Concepts
Great watch, thanks for posting it. I always forget about Accuphase but they really do make exceptional gear.
How Are the DACs on the McIntosh MX200?
I have only limited experience with the MX200 (friend of a friend owns it, I've heard it a few times in his system) but I think it is excellent. The predecessor MX100 used an ESS DAC solution if I remember correctly, and it was very transparent a...
Does USB cable length make a diference?
I haven't noticed differences when using 1 meter or 2 meter versions of the same cable in my system. I bet something crazy like a 25 foot cable would be problematic though. More important imho is the get the right length to organize it properly. ...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
@charliee Wow I did not realize their site launched already. They made it sound like it would be towards the end of the week. Looks good, simple and clean.  For what it's worth they did tell me that they would honor the old pricing on some stuff ...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
@bill_k Thank you! I was racking my brain trying to figure out the acronym and felt pretty dumb there. I just call my Bryston BIT-15 a "power conditioner" so I was only one letter off but still couldn't get there. I spoke with the folks at Verita...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
@grk The Aeris is pretty thick and somewhat stiff. I've owned worse though. I put the Aeris roughly on par with the Audioquest Blizzard and Monsoon if anyone is familiar with those power cables. They work fine in my setup but I could see having a ...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
@denon1 Need more listening time but so far so good with regards to both tone and resolution. In my experience a lot of cables can do a good job with one or the other but it can be hard for them to nail both,  Of the power cables I was using befo...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
I spent a few hours on Saturday and much of the day Sunday, off and on listening to my system with the new Aeris cables added. I used them with an Auralic Aries G2.2 streamer, a Lampizator Golden Gate 2 DAC, and a Primaluna EVO 300 hybrid integrat...
Has anyone heard Esoteric K-01XS and K-01XD - or Grandioso K1X
The XD models have the new proprietary Esoteric discrete DAC on board, while the prior models use AKM D/A chips. They sound very different to my ears. Personally I prefer the new discrete DAC. I always felt like the AKM-based models were beautifu...
Innuous Zenith MK3
When I was shopping for a new playback device recently, I strongly considered the Zenith mk3. It's a great sounding device. As someone said above, it is getting a bit old as far as the CPU platform, which was one of the main reasons I didn't choos...
Ypsilon DAC-100?
Very nice DAC that I've always been curious about. I agree with your thoughts completely in both the pro and con categories, and my main concern would be the age of those caps. They have a built in shelf life and there's no avoid it. Not an insur...
My Esoteric DV-50S died. Where do I go next?
The problem with all these classic audiophile disc spinners is that the higher up the chain you went, the more likely they were to use proprietary or custom modified parts. Since CD players and disc players in general have fallen out of fashion, i...
