Favorite reviewer? Art Dudley, mostly for his writing, it is clear, clean, gives his postition without denigrating the alternative and has room for humour, how much more can you have?So much with reviewers is taking the time to read them for awhile to find out what ...
Two-Year-Olds and Turntables... A very none politically correct idea isIt may be your grandchild but it is your offspring's child, hence if they wish to visit and have you be relaxed and enjoy it, it is their responsibility to either pay attention to their child or not stay to l...
Do flexible speaker cables exist? Nordost
What do you think about this statement Since you met at a party why not meet again at each other's house and hear for yourselves' the difference? The worst that can happen is two evenings of some wine(?), good music, and hopefully good company. Rather than go with other people's ears, h...
Acoustic Zen vs Synergistic Research Have not listened to their speaker wire but have auditioned the Acoutic Zen Silver Reference and the Synergistic Reference Acoutic and Preciscion Reference. So have some familiarity with their house sounds. The Acoustic Zen was very relaxed, flowin...
New house room size opinions please........ I agree with Jaybo on both counts, but especially on the house. Your house is where you live and listening to music may be a large part of your life but it is not the entire center of it or your wife would not still be with you.

Suggestions for Classical Piano "works of merit" Rossini, yes Rossini as played by Aldo Ciccolini Pleasures and Peccadillos on Seraphim, also if available Sins of Old Age. These are considered Humorous piano works
New Nordostline : Heimdall, Frey and Tyr Have been listening to Tyr for a month or so from my phono preamp to my preamp. It has been superior, IMO, to Acoustic Zen Reference, Siltech G-88 amongst others. Am still comparing but the openness combined with detail and a sense of positioning ...

SACD certainly bests CD for me. A few years back was at my then local stereo store, since moved and bought out, and heard a Diana Krall Cd on their set up, then using the same set up, heard the same album in SACD, there was no going back to just plain CD thereafter. Its a few ye...
Suggestions for Classical Piano "works of merit" I would agree with Newbee on current Brendel recordings, but some of his from the early 60's to at least early 70's are outstanding. Especially his version of the Beethoven Choral Fantasy
Suggestions for Classical Piano "works of merit" Have not heard his Schumann but have his LP's of the Schubert Piano Sonatas and they are indeed amazing, check them out, with luck they're on CD
New CJ preamp w/ remote that have old CJ sound? I had a PV-11 and wish I had kept it, for my second system. I replaced it with a Premier 16 LSII and have had no regrets, see if you can audition one. It is C-J sound but not quite as it was, still for me it works.
Earthquake Protection Your life and your ability to hear, listen, apreciate and crave music come first. Gear can be replaced, you on the other hand... Depending of course of the point of view of someone much nearer the scene than me. |
