Best amp for kappa 8.1
While still beyond that price range, I think one of the few contenders and perhaps the least expensive of them: some Krell’s. Try and find an appropriate one that has been properly recapped. If not, it might need it soon. Can be rather expensive, ...

@tomthiel, as usual an excellent response. I do think that 40 Hz is not too much to ask of a 10" woofer. Of course, as has been discussed before these suggestions could double one’s amplifier budget. And, with 1st order crossovers there would be q...

With all due (and sincere) respect for tomthiel, see my thoughts on removing the eq from the 3.5's here: https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/thiel-owners-2?page=12

@thielrules, Thanks again. Excellent information. The price of the drivers doesn’t seem unreasonable. The required cabinet work might be more than I bargained for. Not to mention the crossover tweaking.@sljhigb, the original 3.5’s  mid’s 50 Watt r...

@thielrules, Thank you! What kind of expense would one meet to retrofit the co-axial's to the 3.5's?

At the risk of appearing redundant; I still wonder if the 3.5's baffle could be modified to accept the co-axial midrange/tweeter from the 3.7's. Then we would have a genuine Thiel replacement and the advantages of a lobing fix. Sort of a time reve...
Are Speakers Like Cask-Conditioned Beer?
Indistinguishable.
Loudness - Why has the industry stopped producing amplifiers with this feature any longer?
I seem to recall the later old TacT gear allowed for user customizable settings that varied with the volume control setting.

I’m guessing you meant un-equalized CS 1.2’s?Checking the eq is a good suggestion. I’ve never had a problem with mine, but in the last 30 years there have been some reports of eq issues. Your available power is just about the minimum suggested for...

^You shouldn’t have issues with bass depth. Bass volume can be a bit shy. Do you have the eq set up correctly? Unless you’re amplifier and/or room compromised, bass should be a strong suit.
Why are audiophiles perceived as being wackos?
Because the shoe fits.
I can prove your room is bad
@erik_squires ,.....That and driver integrations, or perhaps more accurately the lack there of.

@erik_squires, I think you might have me confused with someone else; I never made such an assertion.  I was merely replying to your response to my 06-07-2020 post on this thread.
Speakers that are a great value!
On a performance per dollar basis , I never fail to be impressed by the Vandy 2’s.
