HDCD: What do you like? You might discover that you have more HDCD's than you think, many CD's are marketed without the HDCD logo even though they incorporate the technology. While investigating this technolgoy is a very worth while endeavor, I would caution you from put...
Giving up on Power Race, and going SET? Well said Clueless!
Drawbacks from selling overseas ? Shipping charges, taxes, currency rates, insurance rates, tarrifs, warranty policies, possible language and/or cultural differences and good old fashioned politics all become issues. Should there be a dispute you'll have the complications and expe...
Giving up on Power Race, and going SET? Jcbtubes, you give me too much credit. I haven't, nor intend in the near future, to learn that much technical stuff. At least not untill there is some sort of major discovery and/or compilation of what is known that would warrant it. In the mean t...
whatz up with hi-end speakers near walls? If I had a small room I'd rather buy speakers that were designed to be close to the rear wall and sacrafice soundstage depth than compromise driver integration by sitting too close to a speaker. As fortune has it, I don't have that problem. I do a...
Giving up on Power Race, and going SET? Brulee and Twl to dismiss specs is to dismiss opportunity. I'm sure that the designers of your favored gear used specs to get their desired results and to maintain those results. Ignoring specs makes system matching exhaustive. Using specs one can...

Heard about the New 2003 Madrigal Warranty? Didn't Harmon get ripped here less than year ago for their customer service re: a home theatre piece? Changing the policy after the fact is the lowest of the low!
HDCD Question.... I believe that any CD/DVD player is compatible with HDCD discs in that they will play them with 16 bit resolution, but you need an appropriate HDCD chip set to get the 20 bit equivalent resolution and other benefits HDCD's are capable of. Consider...
Speakers That Are Good Near Wall...But Not Corner? While various Linns don't fit your requirements re: cross-overs or ultra high sensitivity, they might work nicley close to the back of the long wall.
Passive preamps and poweramp's input impeadance Arni, please forgive me. I made a huge error in my previous post. It should have read as: "the Rotel's input impedance does *NOT* make for a classic candidate for a passive pre."
Passive preamps and poweramp's input impeadance I think Symphony Sound is right. Working and optimizing are birds of a different feather. Arni, the Rotel's input impedance does make for a classic candidate for a passive pre. Not knowing the source specs or cableing prohibits a defintive answer....
Best Frank Zappa´s Recordings My favorite is "Roxy and Elsewhere".
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive? Gunbei, I'll save you the wrath of Erinie, Subaru makes the Impreza WRX. Hold on to your hat the STi is commming to the US soon. 300 horsepower @ 6000 RPM's, 300Lbs. torque @ 4000 RPM's, 9000 RPM redline, 6 speed short throw transmission, driver c... |
