Magnepan 3.3 VS Dunlavy SC-IV
These two speakers though very different are amongst my favorites. How many channels will you be running? Ultimately I think your room might decide what might be best for you. While the Maggies offer a wide soundstage so do the Dunlavy's. The Magg...
How's Krell KSA80B compare to the latest model?
I think the mono version (Krell KMA 160's) are one of the great amps of all time. I don't really recall the SF1, how ever I really, really liked the Sonic Fontiers Line series. Depending on your speakers, room, etc. I think your might be onto some...
How would you describe your class D amp's sound?
I'm curious too!
Pass Preamps
The couple I heard were really nice.

Muralman1, while I can understand how you came to believe that Ar_t is "Expounding on a trait that is most damning", I believe that he has qualified that assertion. As far as "class D amps on my (your) speakers." and "There are plenty of speakers,...

Muralman1, I have not done any serious listenig of digital amps, but, it is a characteristic that I have noticed on occassion. More importantly I think that Ar_t is suggesting that many if not most digital amps seem to take measures that allieveat...
Depth Imaging
Donbellphd, I suspect the plasma will intefere less than a rear projection set. That is just a suspicion. It may turn out that the deeper rear projection might just break things up a bit. There are now screens from Sony and DNP that enable front p...

Damn, we're really getting somewhere now. Thanks Ar_t! I love it when I actually learn something.
How can I raise the height of the sound stage
Perhaps some room treatment on your ceiling above your speakers.
Distant from front wall
I am under the impression that the best place to measure from is the center of the woofer. If your speakers are time aligned the tweeter will probably be very close to that.
Best Digital Amp for Legacy Focus 20/20?
Muralman1, your enthusiasm sometimes compromises your opinion. Your replicating the same notions you had for the EAR gear. I don't think Ar_t is claiming any superiority between his products and anyone elese, just that some building blocks seem to...

This is not the first time poor Ar_t has had to deal with the issue of his business. Audiogon certainly isn't making it any easier. I don't believe Ar_t is trying to hide the fact, it just becomes redundant after a while. All the same for those no...
Threshold's
Thanks Thorman, Arnold, and especially David and Sean who offered detailed e-mail advise! Though I haven't heard one I am very encouraged by all this information. Now if I could only find one.

Bombaywalla, perhaps the point was missed by me. As far as realization, others may indeed come to the same conclusion and others may not. How ever I think it important to realize that our systems are complex and some attributes of sound that may b...

Bombaywalla, that solid state most often uses feedback, may not be the perfect solution to a problem. On some level it works. On the other hand these problems are not the only ones that exist in audio amplification as we know it. All designs have ...
