A brutal review of the Wilson Maxx Ah, that word "sophistry" again. Philospher, Brit for sophomore, just what thought is trying to be conveyed by the use of this word. I never thought I would come to be so aware of the abiguity of this word till this thread.
c-j technical questions Stan, thanks for the kind words. The volume setting on your pre may have more to do with the amplifiers sensitivity than its ultimate power output.
c-j technical questions Stereophile's latest buying guide lists the c-j 2500A as capable of 250 watts per channel into 8 Ohms and 400 watts into 4 Ohms. In Stereophile's December 1999 issue the 2500 was reported by Martin Colloms as "Tested with the UK's 242V, 50Hz power...
power for Thiel 3.5's Any one know of a suitable amp for the Thiel 3.5's that can provide 500 watts into 4 Ohms? I've heard Classe' on the Thiels, while Classe' would make my short list, Classe' may not be at the top of that list.

Misleading ad titles and prices IMHO, most of these ads seem to originate from dealers. I think Audiogon should keep them out of the personal classifieds. If individual's follow suit it may contaminate the very system that we have all come to love.

Looking for a new powerful amp. I've always really liked the McCormack amps with Vandersteen. The McCormacks work well with tube pre-amps too.
A brutal review of the Wilson Maxx As though I'm the only relentless one here. Ah, yes and we finally come back to the Wilsons, individually tuned, but, unfortunately with out a proper anechoic baseline. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. You may have to wait until after May, when I in...
Denon Service... Yeah or Nay? Sorry I can't help you, my lone 15 year or so Denon piece has never needed service.
A brutal review of the Wilson Maxx Khrys, your question is valid. Though anechoic chambers are not standardized which of course compromises the very point of it all, they at least an attempt to neutralize conflicting interactions that may skew the baseline measurements. I think it'...
Including Boxes in Shipping Costs or Sale? IMHO, packaging is usually part of the price unless otherwise stated. |
