Which would you pick between these 2 and why?
As you've already noted, but, perhaps have underappreciated "other associated components contribute in a big way". With that said, as far a preference for "lots of detail but at the same time not the grain" I think the McCormack might edge out the...
Love it, or Hate it ? (wood trim)
Dislike. It can look really good on it's own, but, when you start matching different components and home decor, it can unravel pretty quick. Then there's the added expense, upkeep and space. I'd prefer to do without it.

Oops! My bad.

I'd go with Dunalvy SC IVa's.
$ 2500 ....Stay with Vandersteens ??...what else ?
I actually appreciate that a follow up was posted. Regardless of what happens, I like to know what became of the advise offered.
Help please choosing AMP wattage for a newbe
The same argument can be used in reverse: how do you tell in advance how a component(s) will react with speakers that haven't been tried with it/them? The way I hear it, speakers seem vastly more colored than most other components, and perhaps eve...
Vandersteen 2CE or 1C for small room?
If your placing the speakers along the long wall, with appropriate speaker placement, your head will probably be close to the opposing wall. Therefore, you will in all probability need some absorbing room treatment behind your head, as is true wit...

FWIW, I'm in the Audiofeil, Stanwal, Phaelon camp: choose your speakers first.
Vandersteen 2CE or 1C for small room?
The Vandy 2's are certainly strong contenders. If you like what Vandersteen does, though very different in some ways, these share some characteristics: Dunlavy SC IV's, Meadowlarks, Thiel CS 3.5's, and though I haven't heard them, the Green Mounta...

What's the budget? Yes.
Vandersteen 2CE or 1C for small room?
I've heard the 2's in a lot of different setups. They are room sensitive, and not just in the bass. As good as they are, they can sound down right bad, in either too small a room, or with poor placement.

Cutterfilm, you can handle the 2's.
History on ohm A's and F's.
Dale, thanks for your reply. I read your earlier posts. What am I missing?
Ayre vs Boulder
Stringreen, I agree that Vandersteens tend to have a laid back presentation. I don't usually think of Audio Research as being laid back, never the less, they did sound very good together. BTW, I usually think of Ayre as having a laid back presenta...
Ayre vs Boulder
This seems to be a an odd comparison. Though both solid state, they offer quite a different presentation. FWIW, I heard some very nice sounds recently from Vandy's with the latest Audio Research gear.
