Rawson Amps Rationalization?
Magnepan 3.7 Josh358, thank you! If the only difference is the shape/thickness of the wire/ribbon, and assuming the "quasi-ribbon" acts more like a planar dynamic than a true ribbon, the "quasi-ribbon" label seems to be a bit misleading.
how close in sound can a tube and ss amp sound ? It seems to me that a lot of the attention on this thread about the differences between ss and tubes is referenced to how they differ in regard to how they clip, even if the clipping is inaudible(?!). I can understand that the clipping might be so...
Magnepan 3.7 I've always like the Magnepan sound, and especially the 3 series, even though it differs quite a bit from what I typically like. The idea of Magnepan going to an all ribbon(?, what the heck is a quasi-ribbon anyway?) seems like a major change and ...
Best Garage or Workshop Design for Audio Gear Unless that garage can maintain temperature and humidity conditions, I'd think again about such a plan.

Which cost more: your system or your car? Mobile system, AKA: Car.:-)
Thiel 3.6 to Eggleston Andras II Those CS5i's are a great recommendation, and would be my first choice in your circumstances. I would think it safe to guess that you've tailored the rest of your system around the Thiel house sound. IMHO, changing speakers, more so than other comp...
Thiel 3.6 to Eggleston Andras II Yes, the Dunlavy's are "OB", but the parts are readibly available. They are bigger, have sealed boxes, and are more sensitive/efficent. They do share many design attributes with the Thiels. |
