Advice on MM/MC phono pre-amp please.
Also, it may be noted that running a high output cartridge into a MC section with high gain, can overload the phono section and cause distortion. And using a severely low load for the cartridge(compared with what it was designed for) is counterpro...
Could This Be Your Next Power Conditioner?
Okay, I'll try to answer all the questions.First, the best thing to do is to start out by going to websites that sell solar power stuff. Many of these websites have alot of educational information that is available for you to read online, for free...
newbie turntable/speed control question
All Teres models have 33 and 45 speeds. You just hold the button down for 5 seconds to select 45 on a Teres.
Could This Be Your Next Power Conditioner?
Pat, the charger will do just fine on one or more batteries, but you should disconnect the charger during play to eliminate any noise from the charger. You can just shut it off when you play, and turn it back on after you are done, to recharge the...
Could This Be Your Next Power Conditioner?
It works. I've been off the power grid totally for over 8 years now.You can use the PV systems to furnish part, or all, of your electricity needs. I recommend starting with partial solar power, for certain needs, and then moving up to a full syste...
dynaudio confidence 5 , which amp is fit ?
The Audio Research REF600MkIII monoblocks sound very good on the Dynaudios. It may be a little difficult digging up the spare $40k that they cost though.
Old Newbie has questions on turntables.
Darryl, I like the NAD too. When you get it, try a Goldring cartridge, like a 1012gx, or 1022. They are around $200 and make a nice match for the NAD, without spending a fortune. Don't let the salesman put a Grado on that TT! That combination very...
Try this simple DIY interconnect cable.
Cdc, sorry I was wrong about that. They were interconnects, but I didn't look far enough down the page to recognize the finished cable. I looked at the partial product, and thought it was the final one. My apologies to all.
What to put under my Aries turntable ?
Vibration is what we are trying to minimize. I recommend a short rigid stand dedicated to the turntable. Sometimes the area behind a speaker can have a strong bass buildup. This is counterproductive. If there is feedback or other bad things happen...
Try this simple DIY interconnect cable.
Sean, I agree with the 20ga wire being ok for skin effect in the audible range. I used that or 22ga for speaker wires on low power systems., but my trials have shown that in IC's, the 26-30ga range works best overall. I have not had any bad effect...
Try this simple DIY interconnect cable.
Cdc, just for clarification, those photos on your link are speaker cables, not ICs. I do like that speaker cable design though.
Ok this will be a good thread.
Touche' Bob, but the room and the listener are not part of the signal chain. They are part of the acoustic environment, after the electrical signal has been transduced into air motion. Good try though. It had me going for a second.
Ok this will be a good thread.
The order of importance in the audio chain goes the same as the path of the signal.
Power cord? Why?
Ok, have fun. If people are that gullible, you have every right to hook them. If the cable sounds better than others, then it will stand on its own merits regardless of the technology.
Amp/pre for Soundlab M1s Advice: Digital or no?
Albertporter is busy at the HE Show this weekend, but I'm sure that he would tell you that the Wolcott Presence 220 monoblocks are the best amps that he has come across in about 15 years of Soundlab ownership. He uses the Soundlab U-1, and the Wol...
