Do you really need ultra expensive cables?
Look Rodney, there is a difference between saying that cables don't improve the sound, and that cables don't make the system sound better. They can make the system sound better. The cables that corrupt the signal the least, and mate the best with ...
Do you keep your amps and preamps on all the time
I only turn them on when I use them. I give a few minutes warm up before I play.
Ok this will be a good thread.
Oooohh! Asa, that was a Hula-popper with a treble hook! You're bound to attract a lot of "objectivist" fish with that one. They have minds like a steel trap - clamped shut!
Point to Point Wiring
They still do the point to point wiring on some amps. Usually the more expensive ones. PCBs are cheaper and more consistent for production. I still like the hand wired amps.
Review: ZHORN FOSTEX Speaker
Cool review. I love single drivers. I use Lowthers in Voigt Pipes. Have you tried the newest Lowthers?
Ok this will be a good thread.
Very nice photos, Marco. I have a 135 pound male Rottweiler named Magnum. He just turned 2 years old, and was born on my 46th birthday. My previous Rottweiler was named Thunder and he died at 6 years old from cancer. He was as good as they get. I ...

Marco, I've been through that recently also. Very sorry to hear that it has happened to you. I thought that I couldn't get another dog, after that happened. But after 3 months, I couldn't live without one, either. I finally got another one, and it...
Genetic differences in turntable design.
Sean, thanks, I gather that you're not going out to buy a Linn tomorrow? :^)Actually, I did like the sound of the Linn for a number of years. But it did have some floor vibration issues that were disconcerting.I used to be less "PC" than I seem to...
Try this simple DIY interconnect cable.
Sean, your probably right. There may not be much, if any, difference in sound between these cables. But since all things are different, it is likely that some small differences will show up.I mean, all the cables need to have some kind of wire bet...
Genetic differences in turntable design.
Sean, while I feel some agreement with your statements, surely you must know that I have owned and set-up and listened to many, many different suspended turntables, and unsuspended ones. While all are different, and have their own particular good ...
suggestions for turntable set up around $6,000.
First, the 265 all-wood model is sold out because it was a limited production. There is another production run coming out soon. I recommended the 255 because of the price thing too. It leaves enough money left in your budget to afford a really goo...
Genetic differences in turntable design.
Cmk, all I can really say about that, is that I have actually had more trouble with vibrations of all types with my previous suspended turntables, than I have with my current unsuspended turntable. I can say without reservation, that my current Te...

Eralff, the Teres 255 is mentioned on Arthur Salvatore's website. It is at the bottom under "other interesting turntables", because he has not yet auditioned it. He states(from the website), "TERES- This company sells 5 turntables direct to the pu...
Golden Tube amps
They are out of business, and have reliability issues. From what I have heard, schematics may be hard to get. Beware. However, they are very good sounding amps. They can benefit from some mods, and can be real nice. It's sort of a quandary, because ...
Genetic differences in turntable design.
I have not noticed the particular things that you have mentioned. However I think there are some things that may be thought of as "genetic". But, there is a great possibility that these "genetic" differences could be obscured by a variety of commo...
