Advice wanted on mid range setup Rbirke, I suggested a 501, and that the IO would require a stretch of budget. They can be had for about $2700 used, if you look for awhile. You are right, it would cost considerably more than his budget. But it would be a one time buy, and he'd be...
Starting out The Music Hall is a good table. I think if you could stretch up to a Nottingham table, you'd do a little better. But I don't think you'll be putting the MMF back in the box and selling it. It's pretty good. You also might consider the Teres 135, i...
Advice wanted on mid range setup Your professor is correct. Get the gain up front, for the lowest noise floor. You will need to have good, quiet tubes in the phono stage. That is a must.
Advice wanted on mid range setup Even though most people know what I'm going to say, I'll recommend the Teres turntables again.I still feel that they are the best for the money, and the higher level models are pushing the envelope, and approaching the best analog sound available....
Starting out I think that you could surpass the 9000ES at about the same price point you paid for it. Maybe less.Using good condition, clean records will go a long way toward keeping you satisfied with analog. I'd suggest putting a record cleaner in your budget.
Check this out Jyprez, after using many TTs with MDF or acrylic bases, I might agree that they may be stable, but they don't sound anywhere near as good. This was really shown to me in a big way, when I upgraded my Teres from the acrylic base to the lead-shot lo...
Severe Static/Slight Hum SME 20/2 w/BAT Jfrech, since my last post mainly addressed the static problem, the hum may be approached by first checking for the possible sources of hum.Is the hum present when the TT motor is not running? Or does it appear when you turn on the TT? This could ...
Ortofon MC Question No. It is broken and must be replaced.
Check this out David, the platter is constructed using the W.E.S.T system of epoxy resin soaking the wood, like is used in modern wood boat construction. The platter is pieced together like a puzzle, with the grains of the pieces oriented for maximum strength an...
Severe Static/Slight Hum SME 20/2 w/BAT You need to ground your table. The main bearing housing is an appropriate point, or somewhere on a metal part of the subchassis that contacts the main bearing.Static electricity can be generated by the stylus in the record groove. If it is not dra...
TT interconnects and power cords Sorry, I made a reference to the P2 and you have the P3. My apologies, but the basic comments still apply. You also might try some Audiopoints under the TT, for nice increase in sound quality, at a reasonably low price. They worked great under my T...
Check this out Yes, lovely, isn't it?Unfortunately, they are sold out on the model from pre-production orders, and they may be available again in January. However, I'm sure they will take advance orders on the model, for the next production run. That 340 will lik...
Seeking full range single driver speaker recs Manger is not really qualified as a fullrange driver, even in the looser sense. It only responds down to 80Hz, and all the Manger speakers have a woofer, or use a separate subwoofer. If you plan to use the sub anyway, then they might be a consider...
Silver to Preamp & Copper to Amp? I use only copper throughout. A lift in the top end will continue through the rest of the system, no matter where you perpetrate it, unless something else is rolling it off.My cables(Sonoran Plateau) use all copper, and even use copper based solde...
TT interconnects and power cords Well, the cables are a known weak point on the Rega arms, but after all, this is only a $300 TT including arm, so it can't really be expected to have state of the art cables on it. The Incognito wiring kit for Rega arms is a popular one, as a repl... |
