Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
Rauliruegas, yes I agree that if the tonearm is properly designed, that there will be no need for my tonearm mod. Unfortunately, it seems that many are not properly designed. So, improving the lateral mass is appropriate in many cases, but not all...
Spacedeck compared with Gyrodec SE
Audiogon member "4yanx" has done a direct comparison test that included the Gyro and the Spacedeck. The test used the same tonearm and cartridge being transferred from one deck to the other. Perhaps he could be kind enough to comment on this. It i...
Bruce Moore Companion IIC preamp
I have one of his preamp designs from a previous company that he worked for, MFA. The MFA Magus is a really good one, and has become a "cult classic" for high-value preamps w/phono section. Very reasonably priced on the used market. I have spoken ...
SET amps with cajones and finesse
I would echo the idea for an 845 based SET. They will give good power levels but still retain the SET architecture with a single output triode per channel. This is important(IMO) for the coherence that SETs are known for.The WAVAC would be an exce...
Teres/Scheu-Help
Brian, seems to me that you are the only one being "annoyed". I was quite cordial and deferential to your experience in the matter, and ended with a "to each his own" statement, even though your previous other posts described your Teres as "255ish...
Teres/Scheu-Help
Brian, generally speaking, a project that starts out to exceed a certain benchmark will not be considered successful if it doesn't exceed the performance of that benchmark. Since the Teres group had the Scheu right there to work from, I suspect th...
Teres/Scheu-Help
Both are nice tables. I personally own a Teres 245 and like it very much. You may be interested to know that the Scheu TT was the turntable used as the starting concept from which the original Teres project sprung. The Teres idea was to build upwa...
Different Tonearm and Table advice...short, short
Carl, I have no experience with that arm, nor does anyone that I know. It looks very interesting, but I cannot offer any meaningful opinion on the performance. Also, the Nottingham doesn't have terribly noticeable cogging(IMO), and it is a very goo...
Good value phono preamp for MM cartridge
Take a look at the Gram Slee phono stage offerings. They are very reasonable, and have excellent performance for the money.
DIY Speaker Kits - Suggestions.
My advice is to start simple. It can get very complicated, very quickly.I have tried many different kinds of speaker designing/building projects over the last 30 years. A good place to start is a basic 2-way. Get your feet wet with basic cabinet d...
Dunlavy 4A, High Frequency Improvment??
Check with Audiogon member "Theaudiotweak". He has a set of Dunlavy SCIV speakers and has modded the heck out of them, in all kinds of ways. He's sure to be able to be of some help.
Nirvana Electronic Works NEW A-60 Amplifier.WOOW
Sounds like you are really having alot of fun! That's what it is all about. Enjoy!
Beogram 1800 goes crazy
Sounds like the diamond might have come off the cantilever. Check the stylus with a magnifier. The anti-skating is pre-set on the B&O tables, so you can't adjust it.Another possibility could be something is jammed in the automatic arm movement ...
Are Sonus Faber Cremonas "Tube Friendly"?
It would be best to have an amp with 2 ohm taps on the transformer. Or at least a Push-Pull amp with enough feedback for a decently low output impedance. According to the published charts, the Cremonas have 2.3 ohm dips at the bass frequencies and...
Eurolab premier turntable.
It is a fine turntable.
