Jolida 1501 sound gone from great to eh. Help You must acoustically treat the room and find correct speaker placement in that room. You may find that you have to turn the volume level up more to reach similar SPL as your smaller room. This is normal when changing listening rooms.
Cartridge/compatibility question I was waiting for someone with direct experience to answer.Since nobody has, I'll try to give some insight.Since the Scheu is lighter(6.6g) compared to the H2 Wood(9g), you'll have to take that into account for matching with this arm. The complian...
Rewire Turntable? Well, I wouldn't exactly call the 6.5mv output of the Goldring 1042 "low". It has the highest output of any cartridge that I know about. So, I guess that eliminates the "low output" possibility.Perhaps there is an impedance load setting that is af...
Rewire Turntable? A 1042 should not be weak on the frequency extremes, and should mate well with a Linn Basik Plus arm. The 1042 is also quite a high output cartridge, so I am at a loss as to why the gain seemed weak.
Shelter 201 Interesting. I am also very curious as to how these newer Shelter models perform.

what is the best se tube amp Single-ended tube amps are a fairly large category. It will depend on how much power you need. For your Proac 2.5 speakers, you'll probably need at least 10 watts, and probably more.I think the best(lower power) SET amp made is a SET-ZOTL from Dav...
Tonearm rewire- Options? I don't use any silver, and my rig sounds just fine.
Best Cartridge for VPI Aries orig + JMW 10.5 ? Rauliruegas, thank you for your comments. My contention is that many unipivot tonearms show evidence of instability in the azimuth plane, when cartridges which feed large amounts of energy into the tonearm are used. This is less problematic when m...

Is the significance of room acoustics overrated? I think that every part of the system, including the room, is important. For an audiophile, we strive to get each part to do the best it can. Rooms included. We have to work with what we have, and what we can afford. Many times rooms are not as go...
Graham and Shelter matching - and other arms/carts For using a DL103R or Shelter on your OL modded RB250, major improvements can be had using the HiFi mod. You can read about it on the analog page "Strange Tonearm Tweak" thread. It describes exactly how to make it DIY. If you don't have the time, ...
weird soundstage with pianos on certain recordings, pianos are "close-miked" with one microphone on the bass side of the piano and another mike on the treble side of the piano. This sometimes gives the impression of a "40 foot piano" which spans the entire room in the soundst...
Best Sounding LPs For lowest suface noise, choose audiophile pressings or imports. For recording quality, audiophile pressings are often best, but not always. And they are expensive.I have found for my wide range of music tastes, and budget, that imports have been t...
Shahinian Obelisk loudspeakers They seem to be a "cult item" and some people swear they are the greatest, and others don't like them at all. You have to listen to them to see which side of the fence you are on. |
