How do you know when tubes are done?
all posters gave good advice. IMO, the best was to keep a replacement set on hand at all times. If your tubes sound "tired" the new set should easily allow you to hear a difference.
Furutech fuse
I agree with the OP, the price of the SR Blue Fuse seems out of whack. I figure part of the price is the engineering that went into the device. I don't know what material and manufacturing cost would be. However, since there was a 30 "trial" perio...
Sabre dacs versus other dacs
Lumin uses the Sabre Dac chips I believe
Icon Audio or PrimaLuna?
I own a Prima Luna Dialogue integrated. I couldn't be happier, it interacts beautifully with my Von Schweikert loudspeakers. I have never listened to Icon gear.
Sound quality issues streaming from Tidal vs CD
IMO, it’s important too have a good quality router. I use a Nighthawk connected by an Audioquest Cinnamon ethernet cable direct to my Streamer Dac (Oppo). I’m considering getting a linear power supply for the router based on comments read on Audio...
New DAC vs Streamer/DAC
doing the home demo is the way to go. if you hear a difference and like the difference then you'll be able to decide if it's worth it to you.

Considering switching to Tubes

Problem with streaming interference
I would get Kevin Deal on the phone....he will be able to help you. Would you please post your experience and especially the PrimaLuna Dac once you've listened for a few weeks.Larry
What would be a good amp to drive a pair of Martin Logan Impression ESL 11A?
I used a BAT VK500....plenty of juice and I agree with the previous posters.
Tubes or stick with S/S
+1 MillerCarbon  I own a PL Dialogue Integrated....easiest to own tube rig I've ever had and it also sounds great
Cheap Plywood stands VS expensive manufacturer's stands

Balanced Audio Technology VK-500 (with batpak) vs Carver Signature Sunfire
I owned the VK500 for several years. It will power anything. It's a great amp. I ultimately returned to tube power because I prefer that presentation.
Well maybe it IS my hearing
Erik, I greatly enjoy your posts.Larry
Old tubes vs New tubes
Miller, I agree the "transformers' in a tubed rig are arguably the most critical piece of a good sounding design. I still hear well enough that I can tell the differences in most tubes, when rolling. And especially the driver tubes.
