dynavector XX2MK2 set up question
If you play records with the mat on the TT, then that is how I would set the tracking force. I have a different table but have found that I prefer my Dynavector XX-2 Mk2 on the heavier side of the suggested range and have it set at 2.2 gm.
McIntosh Preamp
I had the C2300 with both the MC275 and the MC402. I agree with the poster above to change the stock tubes. If you aren't doing vinyl, then you only need to replace the two line stage tubes. I preferred Telefunkens for the line stage and MC phono ...
Lamm M1.2 v. ML2.1
In addition to reading the reviews on Soundstage, Marc now has a new ezine called "The Audio Beat" and he and the staff are very responsive to readers' emails. You can ask him directly and I bet you will get a pretty quick response.http://www.thea...
Cremona m vs sophia 2
I agree with Stan about the Mac amps. I used to own Martin Logan Spires with a Mac 402. Then I switched speakers to Wilson Sasha and although the Mac amp drove them with ease, the amp was a bit veiled. If you get the Wilsons, I'd think twice about...
Amp suggestions for sofia's
Check out this site for a lot of information on Sophias including other's experience with matching amps.http://audioaficionado.org/wilson-audio/If I had your speakers in your room, I'd personally go with tubes. The ARC Ref 110 mated with an ARC Re...
New Grateful Dead Box set...Opinions?
I own it and think it is the best of any copy of these records in my collection, including a MoFi of American Beauty. A must buy for any serious Dead collector, regardless of how many other copies you have.
Analog Preview?
It's normal and called "pre-echo". Some folks think it is a sign of a good resolving system to hear this.http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?eanlg&1176734157&openflup&1&4Dave
Rogue 99 pre vs. BAT vk30
I owned both. The BAT was a little dark and grainy in my system. However, I never tried rolling tubes, so that might have resolved the issue. I bought it new and kept it less than a year. Build quality and ergonomics were excellent. The Rogue 99 ma...
Genelex 6922, 12ax7, or 12au7
I am very pleased with the Genelex 6922 & 12au7 that I am using in my Lamm LL2.1 Deluxe preamp. See this thread for a description of the sound:http://audioaficionado.org/lamm/6087-tube-suggestions-ll2-1-deluxe.htmlDave
McIntosh Tube or Solid State - what way to go?
I've owned a 275 tube, 402 SS and C2300 preamp all at the same time. In my system the tube amp was more transparent than the solid state. Although the 402 had much better control over the speakers (Quads & Wilsons), it sounded a little veiled ...
Wilson MAXX
I auditioned the Max 3 and the Sashas in the same room with the same electronics at a dealer in Scottsdale. While both of these speakers are a couple of iterations beyond your original question, both my wife and I had the same experience and we pr...
New Wilson Sasha VS Wilson Audio Sophia 2
I made this direct comparison several times as I was auditioning speakers. At two different dealers, the comparison was made in the same room with same front end.The Sophia 2 was a little disappointing overall. It sounded like separate drivers wit...
Quad 2805 v. Quad 57
Make sure to investigate the reliability of the 2805's. I owned a pair and loved them for two years, but in that time I had to return them several times for repairs not related to panel failure. I never over-drove them. The issues were around cons...
Wilson audio Maxx best amp match???
Dirtydenny - Audio Buys in Nashville carries Wilson, and they provide some pretty good discounts.Murillo - I have heard Wilson Sophia 2, Maxx 3, and Sasha with McIntosh (SS and tube), VTL MB450, Musical Fidelity, and Lamm hybrids. I have not heard...
Best Tubes results for McIntosh C2300
I concur with the Telefunken recommendations. I used them in the MC and line stages and left the stock tubes in the MM stage which I never used.Once I put them in, I never thought about tube rolling again and they were perfectly reliable for the 2...
