Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Raul, I got the Supex 100 MKIII and will give it a try soon. Thanks for recommending the Nagatron 9600, looking forward to listening to it. And once again thanks so much for starting this thread.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Raul, I bought a Supex SM-100MKIII to try. I don't think it's a top performer but it will be fun to try something different. Seller says it's good for rock music and why I bought it. I see you have the MKII version, how do you rate it compared ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Hi Dlaloum, I am pretty sure the ATN 25 stylus is a real original. As you see it came in the original AT box I sent with it. I was certain the ATN 25 is an eliptical, according to what I have read on the net. The diamond on the AT 25 looks smaller...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
It is hard to believe a budget AT cartridge is as good as the TOTL models that were tried and then talked about on this thread. And Audio Technica's current high end MM cartridge the 150 MLX must be overpriced because I can get the better one (AT ...

Hi Raul, thanks for mentioning you tried the Technics integrated headshell 100CMKIII. I thought of buying one already but the price was very high for a used sample. I didn't know the integrated headshell degraded the performance. I wonder how the...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I could of bought one dandy expensive MC with all the money I spent on vintage MM's. But I like using all my MM cartridges, especially the Empire 4000DIII, EDR.9 and my Technics P100C MKIV, P205CMKIII models. Without this thread I would probably o...
EMT 927 vs. Micro Seiki 5000 or 8000 - different?
Nandric, do you adjust the speed of your turntable while playing a record? Some turntables will slow enough from stylus drag that you can see it with a strobe disk. If you think stylus drag is too small of a force to affect the sound quality that'...
EMT 927 vs. Micro Seiki 5000 or 8000 - different?
I think stylus drag is important, the better the turntable deals with it the better it will sound, as long as the rest of the design is good. There is a reason why the well designed direct drives from Technics, Kenwood, Pioneer etc. and well desig...
A $300-$400 turntable tweak
I have played the same record side several times in a row when adjusting and listening for changes, how else could you determine a change?. A lot of times it is hard enough to hear any difference from the set up changes I just made and I am sure I...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Thanks Mab33 for the information, a shame the suspension can't be repaired to original operation. But I would think there would be a way to replace the orignal wires with a new suspension, maybe not perform as good though and very hard to do? I t...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Sorry about your bad luck Dgob, I can't understand why Vdh and others can't repair the suspension though. I thought for sure Vdh could rebuild the 100C cartridges, but I guess this means they can only retip it? Raul had his "refreshed" by Vdh, I w...
Uni-Protractor Set tonearm alignment
It is all about geometry, the two null points have zero tracing error and if the set up is off the null points will be different than what we think we have. If bad enough the inner null point could be on the record label for example. A tracing arc...
Building high-end 'tables cheap at Home Despot II
Correction "pulling are legs" should read "pulling our legs" again my spelling is awful. I even previewed that last post and I missed that.
Building high-end 'tables cheap at Home Despot II
I don't think any angels are involved here, but it is possible someone is pulling are legs. I am surprised more people have not tried this yet, so simple to try. Maybe more did but couldn't hear any improvement and don't want to hurt the feelings ...
